Assuming a 4 year standard increase deal, no options, how much of a starting offer for JR would you match this July?

I know you've ran the numbers a lot, let me ask...does that scenario mean we'll be able to keep Jules at 18, offer a max this summer and in 2019, but not two this summer? Is it because the cap is supposed to go up next year?

I don't know why it has to be repeated, but it was already posted in another thread using a $108 million salary cap.

Yeah basically what I have. I've been saying Randle at 18 mill and look, add 3 mill to Randle's 15 mill and we would be under the expected cap of 108 mill.

Why couldn't PG13 be a center or something? Would have been perfect for us. If we kept JR and signed PG13, we would be overcrowded in front court. I guess JR start at 4, PG13 starts at 3 and Ingram to bench? Can Ingram play the 2? lol

I agree that the numbers still work with him at $18 million for the 2019 - 20 season, but they are going to have to make some sacrifices in other areas if he is going to be paid that much.* They will already be sending out some assets to dump Deng instead of doing the stretch waiver and I don't know what the breaking point is for the FO on the various tradeoffs they will have to make.

Positionless basketball. Just imagine PG instead of KCP. Would that work? Of course it would.

The pick(s) would have to go either way for both the 2018 plan or the 2019 plan. So the difference with Randle at 15 mill or 18 mill would be Zubac and/or Bryant if I'm not mistaken. I don't see them being dealbreakers tbh. We can fill out the rest of the team with vets. Two max guys and 4 young studs + Hart, that's 7 rotation players right there. We'll be ok.

The diclosure... Oh Bard...

The quote train was getting shortened and I put the disclosure in for those who weren't paying attention and for potential interlopers who would think the context was changed with key parts omitted from the shrinking of the quote train.

I have said $15-18 mil with a player opt out after year 3.

4 years, $20 million per structured as 20/18.4/20/21.6 also works.

I was against paying him since I hated and still do hate his bullyball style and low bball IQ.

However he's 23, works hard, improves every year, and is a bully balling physical freak. It's almost getting to the point where you can't really let him go for anything short of a ridiculous 20m+ offer.

Games like this just make me scratch my head at low ball 12-15m offers. This is easily a 20m player. We're just extremely lucky that there's not a lot of teams with enough room to offer him (more than) that.

Or the four mystery men (not really) who think he's not worth bringing back for any price.

Randle's numbers as a starter: 18.4 points (57.3% fg, 74.9% ft), 9.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.5 blocks in 29.3 minutes over 33 games.
Randle's numbers since the ASB: 20.7 points (59% fg, 73.7% ft), 9.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1 steal, 0.7 blocks in 32.9 minutes over 9 games.

You start free agency by making it clear to his agent that you will match any offer but ask them to wait until after you have signed your free agents. Let the market dictate his price but make sure that they know heading into free agency that they are going to get their contract so they play nicely and allow the Lakers to build their team before signing him. That shouldn't be an issue since they will be making a run at George who has the same agent. Build the team and go over the cap to bring back Randle. It really does make it essential though that you find takers for your money this Summer. It's much more beneficial for the team to be over the cap after signing Randle than it is to be using their cap space on him.

With how they have played the second half of the season I think they will at least find one player to take their money. George most likely.

If we're lucky, PG13 signs with the Lakers on Day 1. Same day other teams make their offers for Randle. This gives the "King" a 72-hour decision window. if he's noncommittal at that point, re-sign Randle.

PG13 + Randle would be a very good off-season in my book. Add the projected growth for Lonzo and Ingram and key role players Kuz and Hart and it makes for an exciting 2019 season.

Randle's age and talent will make his contract easy to move if the Lakers want to change direction. But I'm personally a big fan of bully ball. He gives our team a much needed edge. An enforcer exterior with actual talent underneath.

The combination of talent, size, length, athleticism, strength and BBIQ is incredible on that team. There is play big, and there's playing small.

They'd create a third style, I call it Medium Ball.
