I feel the Lakers need to modernize their game day experience, they are still doing everything they did in the Showtime Era
I disagree - I don't like most of the tacky, overdramatic NBA announcers these days. I like the classy Laker approach. Let our game do the talking, not some corny wedding DJ.
this...
love low key Lawrence ...the show is on the floor...no need to take the spotlight away from the team (I'm sure most of the high profile fans would agree)
This is LG and every year off season right around after training camp we get a thread started on here with LG'ers saying they want a high energy guy like the Pistons public announcer Mason:
Or a wwe type announcer.

I don't want a high energy guy. I like Jason Barquero's voice and style. It's far from high energy. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

The Pistons' PA announcer is annoying. I don't really care who our PA guy is, but i like how Lawrence Tanter doesn't draw attention to himself and makes sure the spotlight is on the players, which is the way it should be. I guess it would be cool if we had someone else who's younger and more energetic, but I mostly care about the team itself and not the PA announcer. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers

Yeah the same high profile fans that stay on their phones during games or don’t cheer the team on at all.
Look to clarify, I never said I wanted an obnoxious fool as our PA Announce, I just don’t like how boring Tanter is. There’s a fine line. And if you ask me this is a new generation of Lakers, a new PA announcer would be nice. I like the guy that’s been filling in. He isn’t obnoxious like the Pistons announcer but he isn’t dull as sht like ours either. It’s a damn sporting event , I’ll forever shake my head at those who don’t encourage some enthusiasm from a pa announcer. It gets the fans involved, the fans energy translates to the players energy, it helps win games. It’s no coincidence that some of the hardest places to win at have hostile environments. And they don’t have a Lawrence Tanter addressing the crowd in a dull and boring manner.
I know some of you will not agree with me and that’s fine.
I have been a Lakers fan for over 30 years. I have never been to a game in LA. I'm trying to come next season. One of the things that I'm looking most forward to is hearing Lawrence Tanter's voice live. His voice is apart of the Lakers tradition. The Lakers are about class, and Tanter's voice is as elegant as it gets.
In my head, I can still hear "Wooooooorrrrrrtttthhhhyyyy", or "Threeeeeeee Pointeeeeeeeeer Robert Hooooorrrrrrryyyyyyy!
We do not need no new voice. Lawrence Tanter is the voice of the Lakers and it will be a very sad day when he's gone.
Was at the game Wed and thought the new guy was OK. His voice was being drowned out by other in arena music and sounds and he was rushing through names for both teams. He had good energy without being annoying, which was good. If/when Tanter leaves, I assume he's next up but he has some work to do.

I never "got" the hype of Tanter myself.
The fact that there is no hype is what makes Tanter legendary. (bleep) that corny hype (bleep). _________________ "The best there is. The best there was. The best there ever will be.", said Bret Hart regarding the Los Angeles Lakers.

As long as there's no screaming I'm fine with anyone
Can't stand other teams announcers screaming players names like they're in the war or some (bleep)
I always like Tanter's simple "kobeeeee"
I like Tanter as well. The yelling hype man crap is so tired. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss

Please provide an example of another NBA team that has "modernized" their game day experience.
Most other NBA teams copied the what the Lakers brought to the game day experience: dance teams, kiss-cam, live bands, etc.
The last thing I want is some Dee-troit Basketballll, over-the-top, player intros. I don't need it to get hyped for the game. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

They already play too much DJ music during time outs and Laker games now- if I wanted to hear tone deaf techno music, I would go to a club in Glendale.
I like the USC band and Tanter. The game is exciting, the team is good now. The other stuff is just cheap and should be reserved low rent expansion franchises. Lakers are class and don't need the extra noise. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss

>livestream-style telecast. mute the arena sound feed and superimpose some skinnyfat, nebbishy soyling over the bottom right corner of the telecast where the scoreboard would normally be. he'd be required to announce the score every 5 minutes, but outside of that there would be no guidelines for commentary, so through large portions of the game he might discuss a broad range of topics, such as comic book movies and microbrews, all while chugging mountain dew, taking breaks only to be rudely waylaid by his parents

I went to a couple Clippers games this season for free and the experience was almost insufferable. Every timeout was like a circus. They shoot tons of shirt cannons, 20-30 people on the floor doing somersaults, that dumb condor running around and an emcee shouting stuff at the crowd with blaring music. Too much of a sensory overload. It felt like the actual game wasn't the main attraction like it is at Lakers games. _________________ YouTube
