if we use the "LeBron standard" of taking victories away.

Curry was injured and Draymond was suspended, otherwise given how Curry had played that season, the Cavs would have lost in 5. Like they did the next season.

But people never do that when LeBron loses, never when he wins, which ain't often.

Curry was healthy enough to beat Durant. Draymond played game 7 at home and played great.

Fact is Lebron beat them. And had their backs against the wall without Kyrie and Love the year before; if he had those guys maybe Lebron goes 2-0 against them.

Yeah after they got Durant. Lebron beat them 3 in a row, games 5 and 7 were in California, and they had to go get Durant because Lebron just owned them in the finals. Having a 73 win team wasn’t good enough for them.

Lets put Durant on the Cavs instead after 2016 and see how Golden State does.

Stop preaching his two wins in 2015. Kerr adjusted and then LeBron lost three straight. There's no accomplishment there. Countless of teams have pushed better teams to 6 games. There's no accomplishment in that.

Love how you make excuses for LeBron on all of his losses yet don't make them for GS in 2016.

LeBroners are struggling with reality. You have been rooting for the greatest loser of all time. Cheers.

Unfortunately two Laker greats resemble that remark.
0-8 -- Elgin Baylor -- 59, 62, 63, 65, 66, 68, 69, 70
1-8 -- Jerry West -- 62, 63, 65, 66, 68, 69, 70, 72*, 73

Then Stephen A Smith would just come on calling for the head of Coach Butch van Breda Kolff for not playing Wilt Chamberlain in the 4th Quarter of a game the Lakers lost by 2 and thus cost them the Championship

Imagine if social media was around back then, even then Butch van Breda Kolff re-signed before the Lakers GM could fire him cause he knew it was coming

But if they were protected like LeBron was, it wouldn't count cause of the incompetence of Butch van Breda Kolff benching Wilt in the 4th Quarter in a game we lost by 2

The only reason I dont want LBJ is the Malone curse. Karl Malone was a tank, he gets here and immediately gets injured. Who's to say the same doesn't happen to LeBron?

LBJ has already played 44K regular season minute and 10K playoff minutes. When Malone joined the Lakers he had already played about 53K regular season minutes and 7K playoff minutes.

I think him slowing down is a legitimate concern based on the number of minutes he has already played.

LeBron has already played more playoff minutes in history. He is already top 20 in regular season minutes. Another 2500+ minute season and he's top 10.

Yep. Injury is the concern at this age.

Nash too. That mileage is going to take a toll and it doesn't help when LeBron gets a hard foul, he's often a bit demonstrative -- you'd think that he's done. Then he gets up a few moments later and takes his free throws. At his age, Father Time ain't too far behind and is bound to catch up sooner or later.

It's ridiculous how Kyrie is just an afterthought when it comes to that series 30ppg, dropping 40 in game 6, and the CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING SHOT in game 7. It's almost as bad as people saying Shaq carried Kobe.

Never said he was insignificant. Not sure why you picked on my post when another post blames Lebron for not winning in 2015 without Kyrie, suggesting that the injury to Kyrie was insignificant. Imagine if Kyrie and Love were healthy in that series and Thompson and Green were injured instead. Would Curry beat the Cavs then? Seems really unlikely.

The Chosen One/King got swept 2x. 3-6 in the Final. Lost to Maverick & Spurs and Dwight Howard Magic.

He formed super team Miami Big 3 & Ray Allen and then another one with the Cavs with Kyrie & Love. Now he is going to either Lakers, Houston, or Philly to form another. I'm not sure how people can call him the GOAT when he lost to team he should have won (Mavericks, Spurs), and keep jumping from team to team with great supporting cast.

I respect Kobe a lot more now that endure the rebuilding years after Shaq left. It is such as waste of his prime with Smush Parker & Kwame Brown. If he had Wade & Bosh or Love & Kyrie during his prime, it would be over.

Looking at finals records is dumb. If you lose in an earlier round, you don’t win a ring either. In fact you were farther away from winning a ring so the failure is even worse.

Lebron won 3 rings in 15 seasons which includes his rookie year when he was 19 years old.

Some other examples are Shaq (4 for 19), Malone (0 for 19), Barkley (0 for 16), and Nash (0 for 18).

But Nash never lost in the finals so lets give him credit for that. Maybe that’s why CP3 never makes the finals either.

Barkley only made the finals once and barely beat a 39 win Laker team in 93 to get there. And Barkley was on a team that won 62 games that year. He was fortunate that he wasn’t a part of arguably the greatest upset in NBA history.

Looking at the Finals record alone is very narrow minded. But some of those lost came from team he has help and should have won. He has two other All-Stars playing with him and veterans like Shane Battier, Rashard Lewish, Ray Allen, Mike Miller etc.

Yeah, I don't want to see Lonzo and Ingram and Randle relegated to "stand in the corner and wait for me to pass you the ball".

That's also anti what Luke has been preaching and instilling into our team for the past 2 seasons.

He should have beaten Dallas. I don’t see any other series he should have won. Miami was actually an underdog against an even more talented OKC team. Going 1 for 2 against the Spurs is fine and he can thank Ray Allen for that. Nobody in the last 4 years has been better than the Warriors and being the only team to beat them in 4 years is an amazing accomplishment, sort of like beating the Bulls in the 90s after one of their great seasons.

Instead of criticizing him for finals losses, if I wanted to pick a series to criticize him, then besides the Dallas series I would pick the second round series against Boston in 2010. Boston was tough but the Cavs were big favorites, were up 2-1 and had the best record in the league that year. Seems like people ignore that Boston series because they think the second round doesn’t count for some strange reason.

Kyrie Irving looked even better playing with Lebron. He didn’t just stand around and watch.

Might as well I mean when LeBron bolts I don't see the point in firing Lue he wants to be there.

https://nba.nbcsports.com/2018/06/09/tyronn-lue-wants-to-be-back-coaching-cavaliers-next-year-whatever-roster-looks-like/

Quote:
Tyronn Lue wants to be back coaching Cavaliers next year, whatever roster looks like

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ roster is going to look very different next season. One way or another. Either LeBron James leaves and then Kevin Love and every veteran they can move gets traded, starting a rebuilding process around whoever the Cavs land with the No. 8 pick; or, LeBron stays, the No. 8 pick gets traded for a veteran who can help the team win now, maybe Love is moved for another better fit, but the roster around LeBron will look much different and be closer to something that could challenge Golden State.

Either way, Tyronn Lue wants to coach it.

“Yeah, I do,” Lue said after Game 4 on if he planed do come back, despite dealing with anxiety issues that kept him away from the team for nine games last season. “I had some tough problems going on throughout the course of the season, and like you said, I probably could have folded myself, but I wasn’t going to do that. I knew that even if I wasn’t feeling a hundred percent, I had to get back for the playoffs. That’s my time. That’s my moment. I didn’t want to put our coaches in that situation. I didn’t want to put our players in that situation, and I had to fight through it. That’s what champions do. I gave everything I had.”

Lue likely does return and a key reason is money Lue has three years and is owed in the neighborhood of $25 million on his current deal. Lue also has the backing of owner Dan Gilbert.

Dan Gilbert

✔@cavsdan

And 4th, for 4 years in a row...

Ty Lue and staff have stood in there with about as much noise and premature judgment that can be thrown at a coach and guided us back to the dance. Grinders and professionals. Proud of Ty and everyone on the entire staff...

Finally, Lue has the resume that should bring him back: a 128-77 regular season record, a 41-20 playoff record, and one championship.

Lue takes heat for some fans for his coaching acumen, but he can be a good planner of strategy — coming up with the Kevin Love corner action that flummoxed the Raptors for example. Lue is not as strong in-game, and he can be loyal to players when he should be more cold-blooded in the postseason (J.R. Smith in the Finals, for example), but he has the respect of players and that’s what matters most. Guys follow him.

The Cavaliers’ players will follow Lue next season. Whoever they are.

Lue, for his part, believes he can get better.

“Just about myself, I can always get better,” Lue said after Game 4. “But I know that I’m a tough guy. I pride myself on that. I’m hard on myself a lot of times, but I’ve got to realize I’ve only been coaching for two and a half years. It feels like 10 or 15. I can get better, and I’m going to get better. I just learned that you’ve got to stay the course in this profession. Anything can happen.”

This GOAT discussion should be over once and for all. He ain't catching Kareem, Jordan or Kobe on the All-Time List, it's over.
