Apperantly, Kupchak's all over the guy.

From what I can tell, we have a great GM. He's enjoying his vacation on the adriatic coast while scouting future LOTTERY prospects.

Make the damn trade, Kupchak. No vacations. No scouting

Wonderful. Another guy with "potential" who may or may not pan out, and who--if he pans out--will be just approaching his prime as Kobe is already out of his. What a waste of time.

Phones in Europe work just as well as phones in America.

And it takes two organizations to make a trade.

It is not soley up to Mitch.

This is probably a second round pick prospect.

This is what you do with low second rounders. Young foreigners with potential.

Who are you going to pick with the 45th or so pick?

And undersized unathletic stiff with high BB IQ from the NCAA ?

We already have a project in Bynum. Kwame's also a semi project. We don't need any new projects....although a Pau Gasol type would be a nice addition, no doubt.

However, Kobe's in his prime. We need to stop with future this future that BS. We have the best player in the league and he needs help.

So let me get this straight...

When the Lakers aren't looking at/drafting Euro's... Mitch is an idiot.

When the Lakers are looking at/drafting Euro's... Mitch is an idiot.

Yeah, yeah... I know. You think Mitch is an idiot, all the time... because 90% of you could do a much better job.

And that's why you're employed by a NBA team, as a GM... right?

That kinda BS gives us no future.

There is no immediate help coming with the Lakers second round pick.

The second rounders who have an immediate impact are usually 31-35th picks.

We draft this guy and let him play in Europe for 2-5 years.

There is no one we can get with the Lakers second round pick that will make an impact next year.

Mitch's job is about now, next year,AND the future.

He can't spend 12 hrs a day on the phone taking to the same potential trade parters the Lakers have this year.

Two things, one, the Lakers (if they don't trade it) will be drafting around 22-27, so immediate help is not likely to be found there.

Two, as for prospects and developing them, the Lakers will still field a team after Kobe retires.

Not this year.

I don't know if he can be drafted this year.

If he develops as many people think he can then he could be a lottery pick.

But with Ogden and all the high schoolers that are prohibited from going into this years entering next year Tomic is not a top three pick.

Unless Joe Dumars has top 3 pick.

Whatever. Mitch should be on the phone, talking trades. Not in Europe watching talented youngsters.

I mean, we do have international scouts, don't we?

Mitch, your job is more than ever...TO TRADE!!!!!

To those who don't understand this concept, which appears to really be just this one poster: People are quite capable of talking on the phone and watching a player at the same time; cell phones do work in Europe; there are even handsfree earpieces so you can use your hands at the same time as you talk. I know it's shocking, but most people got used to it years ago. And I'm quite sure that the ridiculously immature response to this will be something to the effect of Mitch can't walk and chew gum at the same time, so save yourself some time and don't make yourself seem more childish.

It's ridiculous to base a rant on the comments of some foreign language newspaper in the middle of nowhere that was probably just excited to see somebody attached to an NBA team.

JD have a look through the forums over the years. Many armchair GMs have picked better than Mitch. That isn't really a debatable issue--pick the year in question, go to the draft threads and I'm sure that >50% of the fans were calling for a player that Mitch could have drafted, didn't draft, and then went on to be better than the guy Mitch did draft.

So yeah, Mitch is an idiot. His draft record speaks for itself. So excuse us if we are skeptical that he knows talent. Left to his own devices we'd have Sean May this season instead of Bynum. In fact I'm pretty sure that if one programmed a computer to draft at random it would do a better job than Mitch does. He consistently picks the among the worst possible players at the position he drafts at.

Would'nt the "Mitch bash boys" be shocked if they had to walk in Mitchs shoes for about a week? They are actually silly enough to believe that every last player that they are foaming at the mouth for is at home crying there eyes out because Mitch didn't pick em up or even attempt to, that GM's are wondering where was Mitch's call when they were offering their franchise, that Mitch was attending a happy hour at some watering hole in Beverly hills when the leagues best players were being auctioned off for sale prices...

the ignorant assumptions that Mitch is idling 24/7 are a reflection on the intelligence of those who constantly make such assumptions.

He also apart from the Andrew Bynum pick has always picked in the low 20's.

And all his 1st round picks have made in the NBA or atleast proven NBA calibar players.

While guys who have been picked in the 1st round (even as high as 13-17) are struggling to make it or not even in the NBA.

Dumars gems

'03 2nd overall Milicic over Bosh, Wade and Anthony
'01 9th overall White over Joe Johnson, Jefferson, Murphy and Randolph.
'00 14th overall Cleaves over Mason, Richardson and Magloire.

All of the players he passed over were picked within 5-7 picks after his

So if a good GM like him has so many draft screw ups, I guess you think arm-chair GM's can do better than him too, eh?

As much as I think Mitch is a jackass, he only does what he's told. He's on vacation cuz, the Buss family told him to go. As long as he is the GM, the Buss family is clear from criticism. We need a GM that will stand for what he believes in and not just be a puppet. It's easy to blame Mitch, but it's time that the Buss family take some accountability.

A Gm that did what your asking wouldn't last very long. If he challenges ownership too much, they'll simply fire him, and bring in a yes man.
