Great game for the offensive line; decent game from Goff.

just curious, is there any correlation between Lakers/Rams and Clippers/Chargers fans......or is it that most Lakers and Clippers fans are just Rams fans?

Andrew Whitworth might be the best 2017 signing for the rams.

Rams are ranked #4 in this weeks ESPN power rankings. I don't like the 6 day turnaround especially after the first game of the year. And it's even worse being it was a night game yesterday.

Next game:
Arizona @ LAR
1:00 PM
Fox
Vegas line: Rams -12.5.

I would say there's no correlation.
Unfortunately, most Lakers fans might be Raiders fans.

Personally, I was born and raised in Los Angeles in the 80s.
So Lakers and Dodgers were the go to teams.
I was never drawn to the Raiders even though they won.
But I was always drawn to the lowly Rams of Flipper Anderson and Henry Ellard who always got their butts kicked by the 9ers

Clippers? Never liked them.
Angels? Never liked them.
Chargers? Not from L.A., so apathetic towards them.

Lakers and Rams have lots of history in LA so this might explain the crossover. Clippers and Chargers don't have as much history in the city and both came to LA because of inadequate stadium/arena in San Diego. Also while the Raiders only have a decade plus of history in the city, they captured the hearts of a lot of Angelinos because of their outlaw image, winning a Super Bowl in their brief stay here, and because they played in the city, while the Rams during that time played in the OC.

when I first started playing/watching football....I think I was always a Bengals fan growing up.....but Eric Dickerson was by far my favorite player when he played for the Rams. Then he got traded to the Colts in '87 mid-season, and in 1988 Ickey Woods burst onto my scene! I mean the dude had his own shuffle.

Yep, the Ickey shuffle was legit. LOL

After that, Games 3 and 4 will be a Sunday game against the Chargers followed by a Thursday game against the Vikings. Goff will be seeing some real defensive pressure in those games so I hope he's in full sync by Week 3. Thankfully, we get that Thursday game out of the way early. We have one more MNF game in Mexico against the Chiefs but a bye week after.

I think the first half of the game was the Rams preseason, they hadn't played their starters hardly at all, and for Goff he needed the timing; maybe next preseason they play him more like the first quarter of a few preseason games. The defense had issues the first half, because there was no current tape on Coach Chucky, you didn't know what he was going to do.

Even though it is a short turn, Arizona is a mess, and I think we will handle them rather easily. Some of those new wrinkles in the offense look great and that WR tandem of Cook, Koop, and Woods, looks very good. And what about that defense shutting out the Raiders on the road in the second half?

I grew up in LA in the 70's, so it was the Rams, Dodgers, and the Lakers about the time Kareem joined the team. I liked the Raiders too early on, the counterculture opposite of the Niners, who I learned to hate at a young age.

The Rams have always sort of been the "wine and cheese" crowd of fans; Raiders are more of that hardcore blue collar fan -sort of the Steelers of the West. First pro game of any sport I actually attended in person was a Rams game in 1974 as a kid.

Angels, Clippers I root for them against other teams, but no strong allegiance. Like the Kings better, but will root for the Ducks too.

Didn't go to either school, so will root for both USC (football) and UCLA basketball. Just your typical southern California sports fan...

Not only protecting Goff's back but that run-blocking combo of Whitworth and Saffold is almost guaranteed positive yards for Gurley.

I can laugh about the days of Greg Robinson and his bag of offensive penalties every game now.

The media kept making a big deal about the DL registering no sacks for the game but how many offensive penalty yards did the Raiders OL give up because they were making them jump early?

At one point during the broadcast, they showed a series of about three or four plays with the focus on Donald, and they said he had been quiet so far. He was blatantly held on every single play they showed!

it is funny, but you are correct how teams kind of take on a persona with their fans.

Pharoh Cooper out for at least a few weeks with a "significant ankle injury". His backup, Mike Thomas, also injured.

Hope McVay has a backup plan moving forward instead of continuing to risk Kupp on punt/kick returns. Maybe see what Josh Reynolds can do.

That's a big loss. Today they signed Jojo Natson. He returned for the Rams during the preseason but did not make the cut/practice squad.

Being also a USC football fan, watching the Rams is such a breath of fresh air.

This team is so well-coached and the players have bought into the culture and are enjoying the game. Aggressive offense and defense with toughness/swag and great punting/kicking - basically the complete opposite of USC football right now.

Same here. Grew up in the same era...it was Lakers and Dodgers. I followed both the Rams/Raiders as I wasn't really big into football as a young teen in the late 80s. I will say the Raiders fan base grew exponentially in the early 90s with the gangster rap era. Angels were kinda whatever. I followed them but there's not really a Dodgers/Angels animosity. Clippers? Yeah, F that noise.
