I wonder if the Lakers will shift there focus on landing Jimmy Butler.
Why would they do that, nothing that has happened changed anything of note for the Lakers.
Kawhi can still be traded at the deadline if things don't work out with the Raptors or you can wait for him in FA if you believe you can get him without giving up anything.
as long as KL is healthy everything will work out for him and the Raptors, even woj is saying he is warming up to the idea of staying.
Woj said: Warming up to coming to camp with Toronto, not staying.
KL will not be warming up to anything comes Dec/Jan, when Toronto's thermostat dropping down!!! I've been in those shoes before!!!!
i actually enjoy the cold weather. I'd rather it be 25 than it be 95

Why all the hate for DeRozan? Averaged 27.3 PPG two seasons ago and was Second Team All-NBA this season. Spurs went from a top 5 player to a top 20 player, but better than losing him for nothing. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
This is a horrible trade for the Spurs. They'll be around 9-11 seed in the West.
Not good enough to get a high pick, but not good enough to make the playoffs.
I guess they want to avoid missing the playoffs.
I don't see Derozan making a big difference. The west is much tougher. The Spurs were better off rebuilding and settling for draft picks.
I know y'all wanna make y'all selves feel better by saying that Kawhi is coming next year, but y'all also have to come into terms with he might not. That's also reality.

If we can't get him with LBJ, Maginka, a nice young core, max money, and coming back home then it wasn't meant to be. I don't think he's PG. Not too many players want to be in Toronto.

Every year the Spurs are underestimated. They were 3 losses below 50 wins and the 3 seed last season without Kawhi. Now they add DeRozan. Pop will get the most out of him.
I am not saying they have any chance of a championship with this core, but I think they will be a playoff team. I would probably tank if I was them, but I guess pop doesn't want to for his final years.

If he doesn't come here we move on to the next one. He won't be the only free agent.

Theres no guarantee the new Spurs will be anything like the old Spurs core....LMA has had a hard time adjusting to his new team. Maybe Derozan will face the same difficulties as well.

DeRozan is what you call "fool's gold." He puts up big numbers on a garbage team, but he is in no way, shape, or form capable of leading a team to a championship. He's similar to a Chris Bosh or Kevin Love. He's best suited as a 2nd or, more likely, 3rd option because he is a low IQ basketball player with no heart.

Yeah I was just thinking we needed more doom and gloom around here. It wasn't bad enough what this place became after we dared to sign anything less than prime Michael Jordan and prime Shaquille O'Neal to play alongside LeBron.

I just don't understand this trade from either team's perspective. Spurs are barely better off than they would have been by just keeping Kawhi and Green and letting them expire in a year. They got Derozan, who at best only has a slightly positive trade value, same for Poetl, and a late first while coming off a little petty in the process. Even a Deng/Hart/Zu/1st trade would have been better for SA because they would have saved a ton of money and kept a bit of flexibility by still being able to buy out or stretch Deng if the opportunity presented itself. I got mocked a little yesterday by saying Svi/Moe/Deng/3 1sts for Kawhi but that is still much better than SA got.
While the Raptors lose a popular player in Toronto who actually wanted to be there and look like complete jerks in the process. Sure, they can rebuild next year but losing that late first, Poetl, and still having the Lowry contract on the books is going to make it hard.
DD is the face saving that allows them to be in the playoff hunt
raptors need a rebuild and they know it.
I agree that DD looks better to the fans than saving money and getting unknown young guys, but it's still a bad trade for them. They could have gotten so much more if they would have made the trade on draft night. From the Lakers alone I'm sure they could have got Kuz/Hart/25th/39th/47th while saving a ton of cap space. They waited too long.
The Spurs would rather suck than do anything to help the Lakers.
So, all I can say is, when they suck, we got to let them know that we think they suck because of their fear of us. We can be their bully!! LOL _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain

Most of us can care less we got a group of young dudes wanting to prove their Heart.
We could also come to terms that KL may never be the player he was due to the injury

The dude torpedoed his trade value, and was going to walk for nothing. How is this horrible for the Spurs? Even if someone gave them a bag of chips for KL, that would be better than nothing, especially if it's jalapeno ranch flavor.

The Spurs were the 7 seed, and they beat out Denver by 1 game to make the playoffs along with Minny. _________________

It's better to tank than to be what they'll be the next couple of years. Basketball purgatory is mediocrity.

I do agree. I would have looked for expirings and draft picks.
