He's under contract for one more year, he only played 9 games last season. It's in his best interest if healthy to show up like the Kawhi of 2 years ago.

I hope he plays well, that team will be up there with the Celtics in the East.

Does he live in San Diego or maybe just visiting someone? He did attend San Diego State. I remember watching him play and college and thought he'd end up being a role player.

Presumably. Regardless, I had a hard time believing he would refuse to show up and play. Doesn’t make sense for him, even selfishly.

He could have made a stand and TOR would have been wheeling and dealing, instead he decided to warm up in a cold place.

I mean, he could have, but I don’t think that was ever a real possibility. The guy is under contract. Holding out would be extremely foolish and low-class.

He can make it clear he doesn’t want to be there while still being a professional.

The professional thing to do is be direct and honest.

Posing for that Masai pic while having no intentions on playing for them is a deceitful act.

If he plays 0 games this season whether it is because of health or unhappiness with being in Toronto, will the Lakers offer him a max contract next summer?

The thing is Toronto would end the standoff and trade him...there is no scenario of Kawhi playing zero games.

KL said it himself. He does not want to play on a super team.

Personally I much rather would have preferred to have KL over Lebron, if I had to choose.

Look who’s shook at the idea of KL joining Lebron and the young guns.

No coincidence that it’s the GS troll.

Well, we established already that not playing doesn't really benefit him at all.

How do you know that when he was in Toronto (or - reported as he was supposed to fulfilling his contractual obligations) he has NOT conveyed to them his plans (whatever they might be), directly and honestly?

And, while being there, satisfied a request for instagram picture in lieu of the press conference which are much more common after trade like this is consummated?

So - what do you see as deceitful here, assuming he did convey his intention to Masai and co?

a picture is worth a thousand words...

no picture means nothing to interpret hence the safer route to take if he doesn't want to play there but by having one you keep the Raptors fans hopes up.

remember...the north remembers.

I saw your join date when I called you out as a GS troll in a different thread earlier this year when you were straight up trolling people. Your posts in this thread look like more of the same.

Hey, I always treat GS fans with respect; when they sucked, they still filled their arena, and they were big Kobe fans back in his elite playing days. Didn't care for them much back in the Rick Barry days, but the Warriors and their fans are a credit to the NBA.

To say nothing of the past few years when they are dominated, I don't see many GS trolls, like one sees with the Clipper fans...

PS- I wasn’t the first to call out dubaholic as a troll.

Here’s some of the earlier trolling:

http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=182048&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=19575

“Zu and Andre Ingram are HOFers who are going to bring back Showtime!!!”

Now I understand why he didn’t want to sign Lebron.

Right now if he's traded alone.
September if he's traded in a package.

If we had a choice I can understand why Kawhi. I'm extremely happy with Lebron though. But if we can get both, sheesh, no question: get both!

Can we kill this thread!!! It's tiring coming on here & seeing it knowing nothing can happen until trade deadline & even then it's probably not going to happen anyways until next season.

God, get over it!

epak says we can trade for him now by himself or September in a package.

I'd do a deal now - without seeing if he's healthy - if it excluded BI/Kuz.

Plus, without this thread, how would I have known that he was in San Diego already buying his own groceries?

I want KL here just for the mere fact that he can do this -

https://streamable.com/ipzl

The one thing Kobe couldn't do that MJ did, the one handed pump fake/ball movement. The fact that KL can (and does) do this with his claw-hands is nice.

Also, he's just a pretty damn good player when healthy...I really hope we nab him next summer.

Yeah I loved going to Warriors games.

They were cheering crazy for their team but they were also cheering for Kobe whenever he did something. It was literally like being in an arena full of Lakers and Warrior fans and both respecting the other.

That's why I'll always love that arena. Being there hearing this crowd go crazy for the Warriors and THEN turn around and go crazy for Kobe was one of the best arena going experiences I ever had. The fried fish was amazing too lol!!

So....I guess the Lakers name for the second straight off-season...

Used to it, but hey, whatever makes him happy. He wanted out of San Antonio and he got it. It probably never would have picked up steam had he not said our name, which is why every other free agent that wants out seemingly uses it.

We shall see how the season goes.

If he does, more power to him. I hope he destroys the Celtics every damn year in the playoffs if he does decide to stay in Toronto. (bleep) Boston!!

Who is this guy? I can't believe you post this garbage.
I think I will trust Chris Haynes.
