George Hill to graduate, speak at IUPUI commencement

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Broad Ripple graduate and former Pacer George Hill is preparing to play in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals with with Cleveland Cavaliers. But before that series starts, he's got business to take care of in his hometown.

Nearly fifteen years after beginning classes and his collegiate basketball career at IUPUI, Hill will graduate from the school Saturday.

It's an accomplishment he's long dreamed of — being the first in his family to attend college and earn a degree. He completely coursework in IUPUI's School of Liberal Arts.

He'll also be one of the student speakers at the ceremony.

Before entering the 2008 NBA Draft, Hill ranked in the top 10 in rebounds, assists, free throws and steals in IUPUI history.

A'Lelia Bundles will give the commencement address. The 65-year-old is the great-great-granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker.
