Last count I've heard is 8 have been murdered and the shooter is in custody.

This is what I woke up to this morning. Can't wait for Trump to chime in with his arm teachers rant. 8-10 students killed. Explosive devices found and thought to be ready for use in the attack. Haven't heard what kind of gun/rifle used. I wonder if that's by design?

Texas attorney general says "thoughts and prayers of all Texans" are with Santa Fe

Attorney General Ken Paxton issued this statement following the shooting at Santa Fe High School this morning:

“The thoughts and prayers of all Texans are with the people of Santa Fe and those affected by today’s tragic shooting. As horrific reports come out of Santa Fe High School, my office stands ready to assist local law enforcement as needed.”

Not too much longer now, and all will be well in Santa Fe, and we can build up our thoughts and prayers for a few weeks for the next school shooting.

In BREAKING NEWS program interruption, it's being reported the weapons used were a shot gun and hand gun.

Yes, no assault weapons were involved so the media will soon forget this one.

In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.

And such a sad quote from a survivor today:

Quote:
When asked whether she was surprised by the attack, she said:

It’s been happening everywhere. I’ve always kind of felt like eventually it was going to happen here too. I wasn’t surprised, I was just scared.

America, 2018: Where kids already just assume they’re going to be shot at in their classrooms.

If this investigation goes as those before, signs will be revealed. Signs indicating this was about happen.

Maybe it's time we start seeing the images of these shootings on television.

Don't you think the carnage would encourage those who're contemplating a shooting? It would feed a sickness.

I think it would have the opposite effect, if it had any effect on them at all.

As for the rest of us, if we want to collectively shrug off school kids getting shot on a regular basis the trade off should be we have to see what it looks like every time it happens.

It's easy to ignore what you don't have to see.

Quote:
The school shooting near Houston on Friday bolstered a stunning statistic: More people have been killed at schools this year than have been killed while serving in the military.

Initial estimates put the number killed at Santa Fe High School at eight. We can compare that to figures for the military compiled from Defense Department news releases, including both combat and noncombat deaths. Even excluding non-students who died in school shootings (for example, teachers) the total still exceeds military casualties.

This is sickening.

Every time this happens I feel it in my bones. I have 3 kids in public schools. US schools are becoming more and more a dangerous place to be. My fiancé, mom, kids' mom, and sister in law all work in public schools. They all report doing "shooter drills" on the regular now. There was a shooting threat at my son's school earlier this year. They called it out and I kept him home that day.

I'm sure we all have connections with people who are potentially in the line of fire. It's a sad state of affairs when you're wondering "when" not "if" something will happen.

This kid apparently obtained his firearms from his father who legally owned them. Shouldn't his father be held liable? Why are they not in a safe/locker or at very least hidden? The kid obviously had access to both guns and ammo. Where's the common sense? If there won't be any banning of the weapons, shouldn't there at least be some basic laws pertaining to ownership, licensing, and responsibility?

I don't think it's being shrugged off. It's more a feeling of helplessness. People don't know what to do. I don't think visualizing, further traumatizing victims families, is the way. See something, Say something should be emphasized. I'll wager some friends, family members of Dimitrios Pagourtzis saw signs. His Instagram posting said a lot about him. LINK

It is sort of like talking about the nation we aren't allowed to talk about
Guns are somehow the holy grail of being an American..
Talking about reforming either one gets you into some weird arguments

This totally freaked me out for a different reason.

I went to Santa Fe High School as well.

In Santa Fe Springs, Ca.

Took me a moment to see this was near Houston.

Either way, this gun situation needs to be solved!

Bye.

Yes, no assault weapons were involved so the media will soon forget this one.

Probably rightfully so. At this rate the next one is less than a week away.

What is worse is that they are being shot by their classmates, not some evil criminal. Just another screwed up kid. I will continue to blame my generation for letting so many kids grow up without suitable moral compasses.
