Kobe died for this. Not throwing away a proper rebuild for a year or two of James and no titles. |
With LeBron you will have the best chance of winning titles, with Ingram/Ball/Kuzma we might only make 2nd round and WCF appearances. |
You also have the best chance of becoming dysfunctional, like Cleveland. |

| What day can trades be made? If we trade for Kawhi I would think it would be quite early to have time to get all the other ducks in a row and for PG to see. |

I think we can trade now with the Spurs.

Good point. But I for one do not think it's a great idea to surrender control of the franchise to LeBron for 2-3 years of his service, at the back end of his career. |

If we get PG 13, Magic might not hesitate to offer BI+Kuz for Leonard. Both LA guys to go with ZO. Maybe work something out to resign Randle as well.

I have not seen the injury or situation explained in any detail. Would like to know just how bad it is or if he was simply malingering. IMO there has to be more of an explanation before you trade away assets for him. |

| Is getting Karl Anthony Towns something the Lakers will be blown away of? Interesting that KAT being traded is now a possibility and now the Lakers core is no longer untouchable... so there is a chance any of our core guys can be traded for either Kawhi or Towns. |

Saying BI is 'untouchable' last year creates value that he's going to be good and that mgmt thinks so too.
Fast fwd a year later - Nobody is untouchable creates value because they know they did some winning in last year's draft and that the entire core is good. So yeah - take your pick - make an offer & it better be good! |

Yes, we can trade now, but a few things come into play:
1. We have to match salaries since both teams are over the cap
2. We cannot include players like Randle who are not under contract next year. They cannot be signed and traded until July.
3. Draft picks count for no salary value right now.
The upshot is that it is going to be hard to match salaries before July without including Deng, or else a whole pile of young players.
