It would be easier for me to take him seriously if he played a year in college.

For better or worse, Lavar knows how to keep the BBB rolling right along in the media's bright light.

You don't do that by constantly bringing down the organization your son plays for. It's actually silly.

Honestly, I hope he goes to Europe. He's Lavar's project right now. If Liagenlo goes to Europe, Lavar will probably go too.

This means less distractions for us.

yeah, even putting him on the SB Lakers would be a huge mistake
every single time the Lakers lost a game Lavar would be screaming "If they brought up Gelo, they would have won" and B.S. like that
it'd be non-stop

and LiAngelo just isn't that good.

I think he goes undrafted and the Lakers sign him as an undrafted free agent. We see him in the SPL and preseason and then he likely spends the season in the G-League.

I have no problem with them including him in a workout. It is a courtesy to the Ball family and in a strange way good for the team from a media standpoint. The workout will likely be one of ESPNs lead stories and discussed ad nauseum the next morning by the talk shows.

Who knows, maybe the young man proves more then we expect. Maybe he can show enough for the Lakers (or another team) to consider him with the second round pick. Doesn’t seem likely by all reports but it is a small price to pay for the exposure. Lakers are giving him a gift with a tryout, let’s see if he can prove he deserves it.

As for Lavar, who is listening to him or giving him credibility? He is a sideshow. Who is taking his comments seriously? He falls into the category of amusing entertainment. Right there with the WWE, carnival barkers and crackpot extreme political commentors from either side of the spectrum.

If you are quoting or giving any credibility to Lavar Ball’s gimmicky sales pitch of the BBB brand you may want to reflect a bit on your own viewpoint of the world.

The problem with Lavar is that the press gives him a ton of weight. If he says anything, they cover it. It creates a social media mess for the team. Half the press guys doing this, love that they can cause problems for us, so they lay it on extra thick. And of course, there are tons of Laker fans who fall for it hook, line and sinker. Just enough fans care about what he says that it becomes a problem for the team. And if you don't think that is true, then tell me again, why do the Kardashians exist?

Problem is nobody gives a damn about his shenanigans around here, nobody knows who he is, and it will bother him, not having a stage.

if the Lakers draft him and send him to the G-League I hope he blossoms and reaches his potential as a knockdown shooter that we could play off the bench at backup 3 as a three point marksman.

Why would I wish for anything different for him if he is a Laker?

If he ends up in South Bay, ticket sales would sky-rocket. I actually hope he makes it but I have my doubts.
Maybe one of the summer league squads for a game or two, after that who knows.

No one in our FO pays too much attention to the LaVar circus. Magic won't lose any sleep over it. It's just the media hyping it up and the haters buying into the BS.

I just spent a glorious 3 weeks in Europe and watched some EuroLeague playoffs (something called the final four) while I was there.

LiAngelo would not even make the teams I saw player there, they are good.

http://amicohoops.net/nba-rumors-nba-draft-liangelo-ball-lonzo-ball-los-angeles-lakers-golden-state-warriors/

“If he gets drafted it will be as a publicity stunt only,” one scout told Amico Hoops. “Not saying that’s a terrible reason if you have a second-rounder that you don’t plan to utilize. But he’s not an NBA player.”

“He did OK over there,” the scout said. “But there are a better American players overseas who wouldn’t get drafted. I don’t see how he does unless a team wants some extra media attention for training camp.”

The Lakers don't need any extra "LaVar" attention

It would be such an awful mistake for the Lakers to bring him into the fold in any capacity, including SL or South Bay. LaVar takes as many miles as he wants already without anyone giving him an inch. It’s counterproductive to positive PR to give him an even bigger microphone by having Gelo around. The obviousness of this shouldn’t even have to be explained.

There are multiple salary tiers to choose from if he becomes part of the Lakers organization.

1. NBA minimum contract of about $832,000

2. Two way contract

3. Regular D-League contract.

Will Dad be happy if his son is in the Lakers organization, but only with a low salary D-League contract?

I don't know about daddy, but, Lakers will be better without added
distractions from the father or an unneeded son...
