|

With the speculation that Houston may renege on maxing out Chris Paul and the supposed high cost of trading for Kawhi Leonard, I'm wondering if we might do better to add CP3 instead of Kawhi.
* Yes, the Lakers cannot possibly create a max slot for CP3 if we get LBJ & PG13, so CP3 would have to take a paycut.
* Even at a reduced rate, the Lakers would have to move Deng and some other pieces to sign Paul.
Those are obstacles - but those are fixable obstacles - and assuming the Lakers are of a mind to do so, would getting CP3 make sense? _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

I'm a little worried about CP3 durability. |

Having Ball would reduce CP3s minutes and wear/tear on his body at least during the regular season. Maybe? |

If LeBron's going to sign here on a 4 yr contract, then we basically have a 4 yr window.
2018 - (33-34 yr old LeBron)
2019 - (34-35 yr old LeBron)
2020 - (35-36 yr old LeBron)
2021 - (36-37 yr old LeBron)
Those are our 4 yrs that we need to get things done. I think CP3 for sure gives us 2 good/great yrs - 2018 n 2019. After that, I'm not sure.
If we don't sign PG and wait until 2019, then we would have punted 1 of the 4 yrs we have w/ LeBron.
If we strike out on Kawhi in 2019, then we would have punted 2 yrs of our 4 yrs w/ LeBron.
So, whatever we decided to do, I just know that we have 4 shots at it w/ LeBron (if he signs here).
Also, they're probably not even equal shots. 2020 and 2021 LeBron is going to be OLD!
This is very similar to when Peyton Manning signed w/ the Denver Broncos. He gave them 4 yrs. He took them to 2 Superbowls and won 1 title. His last yr was his worst.
LeBron obviously has alot more left in the tank than Peyton. But still, I see it as a 4 yr window. If we're going to win w/ LeBron, then we have to do it within these 4 yrs.

CP3 is one of the very best PG's in the league even at his age, pretty great scorer, as well.
The thing is we could be buying Nash all over again, he now has plenty of wear and tear. Under the right contract (I'm thinking about the length more than anything else), sure I'd bring him in. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

I’d rather get two solid roleplayers than CP3 |

CP3 for free vs. Kawhi for Ingram/Kuzma and picks.
I take CP3
CP3 for free vs. Kawhi for free
I take Kawhi.
Kawhi's injury almost makes it a push with CP3's age.
Even before this season... Kawhi's never been an 82 game player.
Kawhi is the younger and better player... but Chris is the better fit until Lonzo proves himself and probably has more heart depending on how you interpret Kawhi sitting out the end of the season.
So better fit... more heart... no assets?
If CP3 wasn't so expensive it would be a no brainer. |

The one who won't cost them at least two of Ingram/Ball/Kuzma/Randle/Hart. |

Of course Kawhi. Why’s this even a question? |

No to cp3! He’s old and often injured.
Besides, I don’t want him for the same reason I don’t want Howard. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth from that era. Let’s move forward. |

Not only is Leonard better than Paul but he's younger and would make us a contender for the rest of his prime. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011
For all of you out there questioning Jimmer Fredette of BYU, he is the real deal. - Magic Johnson Mar 20, 2011 |

There are rumors that Bron's camp are skeptical about PG signing with us.. and the Spurs are reported to not want to deal KL to a team in the west.
Signing CP3 who I don't too much care for, who is also Bron's good friend might be the only way to sign Bron. There's a good chance they're a package deal.
In that case I wouldn't give Chris anything over a two year deal. |
