No, he doesn't.
This Argentina team do suck, though. And Sampaoli sucks big time.

They are easy to defend, double Messi around the field, keep him out of the play, no one else on this team can step up and beat you. They are a bad team. It'll be interesting to see what type of youth they have to bring up.

Exactly. It's easy to criticize Messi but Argentina really has no alternative. He's the only one actually trying something.

Di Maria, Aguero, Dybala... All superstars on their clubs but NEVER played well for the national team.

Do not care what anyone says, Messi is the greatest footballer to ever live.

People criticising him for this World Cup are jokers, they wouldn’t even be here if he hadn’t Single handedly dragged them.

Point the finger at Higuan (who had he not missed a sitter they’d have won last World Cup), Aguero who never turns up, or the god awful keeper and defence.

This. Team selection, organization, and substitutions all over the place... The hell was he thinking subbing off Aguero for Piguain? Lo Celso, Pavon, and Banega should've all started in midfield. Instead he went with aging, slow Mascherano-Perez pairing that had no chance against Rakitic and Modric.

Messi is pretty much in a no win situation. You have people that want him to match CR7's achievements this World Cup. He also has the impossible task of winning a World Cup title to meet a hungry nation's demands for another World Cup championship. We also know that a single player can only do so much against the best teams in the world and it only gets harder as they advance deeper into the tournament.

Looks like Argentina has a chance to set their own fate now with Nigeria looking to win this game. They beat Nigeria and win on goal difference and they are in.....problem is they gotta score a lot of goals next game.

Do they? I'm looking at the upcoming matches and as long as Croatia at least draws with Iceland, Argentina will advance to the Round of 16 if they beat Nigeria (win and they're in).

I thinkMessi will finish his career for the National team Argentina after this World Cup.

Portugal's defense is suspect. Morocco should have put some away last game and Iran is playing them tough now. If they survive, I feel like any team with world class goal scorers will have their way with them.

He flopped, but Macherani should have known better than to put two arms around him.

I'm talking about the hand ball that was reviewed.

Still rooting for Germany. Hope they advance, but the first match will be tough if they face Brazil (looking likely).

Edit: In terms of the Messi criticism, it's mainly in relation to Ronaldo, who has absolutely dominated so far while Messi missed a PK and has scored 1 goal so far. Ronaldo > Messi in the World Cup so far.

Anyone watch the Iceland match? How tense, dramatic was it? I may need to hunt a replay this weekend. I already know I want to watch all of Argentina's.
