Disappointing opening performance by Brazil.
Their game is very much predicated on rhythm and momentum, so it would've served them well to get off to a hot start. We'll see how they come out next game. |

good finish, I've seen far too many players miss that shot. Belgium 3, Panama 0 - as to be expected. |

For a country that has such great clubs, England sure has underwhelmed in the World Cup recently. |

How many of the stars on those teams are English? As discussed at length in Soccernomics, England has actually slightly overachieved in international competitions, given the size of its population and related factors. |

I was just in England for the first time in my life (London only) for a few days and met a lot of cool locals. I have adopted their team as my own with the USA out, I am sorry Lads! _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Khedira is done. Low needs to change formation from 4-2-3-1 to a three man midfield... Goretzka, Rudiger, and Kroos would be my picks and drop Ozil.
Boateng also looked shaky at the back. It may be time for Sule to play alongside Hummels.
They should be able to get six points from Sweden and South Korea. _________________ Character

A lot of teams in the EPL have favored foreigners over English players and even British too. _________________ (❍ᴥ❍ʋ) ʕʘᴥʘʔ (⌐ ͡■ ͜ʖ ͡■) (┛◉Д◉)┛( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽ |

I don't think there's an English footballer in the EPL who is the best at his position. Even the best trainers are foreigners.
On a side note, what if Trump and his SS henchmen decide to forbid foreign players in all pro sports in the US? I think only the NFL will survive. _________________ “Properly read, the bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.”

Besides Harry "I claim all your goals" Kane, you mean. They may not be the the best, but there are some very talented players. Enough to compete with the best in the tournament and win on a good day. _________________ Character

Not many, you could argue Kyle Walker as the best right back, maybe even Tripper among best left backs. Harry Kane on his day is among the best strikers too, lot of goals over the past 3 seasons. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

I am not as big on Salah as so many others are, but I admit to not being an expert.
Russia advances...they are playing well but have certainly benefited from 2 poor performances by their opponents. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Salah is really good, but Egypt is really, really bad. Almost nothing he could have done to take that team out the group stage, even if he was *fully* healthy.
Russia looks better than advertised, but yes, I agree - they've gotten lucky playing some shoddy teams (although, an 8-0 goal differential is still nothing to sneeze at). |

Love Kane. Rooney was so utterly disappointing on the international stage, glad to see an English player live up to the hype. Feel like it's been a while |

Ronaldo wins it for Portugal. I'm not sure how far Portugal will go, but if nothing else, Ronaldo is screwing with Messi's head. |

Uruguay gets through. Russia will likely lead the group with a big goal differential. _________________ You are under no obligation to remain the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. You are here to create yourself, continuously. - Richard Feynman |

Great save by the Iranian keeper.
Looks like this World Cup is where the non-traditional soccer powers are making a splash. |
