This poll is operating under a couple assumptions.

1) PG13 and LBJ have agreed to contracts with the Lakers

2) In order to acquire Kawhi and trade Luol Deng, the Lakers will have to cash in their top 3 assets (Lonzo, Kuzma, Ingram)

This would leave us with 2 possible Roster Scenarios:

Roster A:

PG: Lonzo Ball
SG: Brandon Ingram
F: Paul George
F: LeBron James
C: Brooke Lopez (Vet min)

Bench Depth: Josh Hart, Kyle Kuzma, Luol Deng + 1 Veteran Ring Chaser

Roster B:

PG: ?
SG: Paul George
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF: LeBron James
C: Brooke Lopez (vet min)

Bench: Josh Hart + 3 Veteran Ring chasers
---------
Obviously, I see the appeal of both rosters. However, with Roster B, we lose our cost controlled assets that add tremendous value and depth, while also building for the future for the post Lebron era. Roster B is very top heavy and relies heavily on the front office finding ring chasers who will take massive discounts to fill out the bench and starting guard spot for a shot at a championship.

Roster A is more balanced and gives us a legit 8 man rotation before going out and signing any ring chasers. It also positions us to acquire Kawhi via free agency the following year as it would be easier to unload Deng as an expiring contract (if this is even possible numbers wise)

If It's possible, I'll take it. Thought in order to get 2 max we'd have to renounce Jules. Good to know we can keep him

It hurts to get rid of guys you drafted, but if a guy like Kawhi is on the table you do it. Top 5 players don't grow on trees.

The thing is he isn’t on the table, he hasn’t asked for a trade and he doesn’t have the nads to speak with Pop one on one.

That lineup doesn't really need any rim protection. Zo can be our weak side eraser.

If Lebron defends as he did this past season we might need a rim protector.

he will probably take off about 80% of time...he may get locked in during 5-10 big games during the season and the playoffs....but Randle cannot be the 5 beside Lebron at the 4 as a primary lineup because Randle is too undersized, and Lebron is not playing much defense most nights. Randle can close at the 5 many nights....but he is not a starting 5 in the NBA unless you have a defender with size at the 4.

Tell that to the Warriors, Green is shorter than Randle with the same wingspan. Protecting the rim isn’t a problem for him.

I might....but first I have to tell you that no, Draymond Green does not have the same wingspan as Randle.

Is it your opinion that Kawhi Leonard is a role player?

Was just thinking of starting this poll too.

It's basically Randle/Ingram/Kuzma for Kawhi, coming of an injury. That's ALOT.

What if we wait a year to sign Kawhi try to get Anthony Davis by trading some of the young core? We lose a season and might get Kawhi mad, but our need is much greater at center than at sf/sg.

Possible 2019-2020 lineup:

Lebron
Anthony Davis
Kawhi
PG
Caruso

I know I'm being greedy.

What about option D:

PG: Hart (defense)
SG: PG13
SF: Kawhi
PF: Lebron (will be the PG on offense)
C: Randle

Bench: Kuzma, Room Exception (Lopez)

now why you have to go and put deng's name in it like that. that alone makes me sick to my stomach. knowing he aint playing.

but I still like the #1 team a tad better because of the depth i know we have and assuming ball isnt injury prone. we wont have a ton of old man injuries like we could if we have 3 vet ring chasers. you have to remember. there are almost no vet CLUTCH role player/or ex stars(due to age) that are still in the league that you can even trust and say that will be enough. so in reality, we may not even go the vet ring chaser route since there's no vets that are good enough. you might as well find some other young dudes. but how for that little of a price?
