It was the moment that defined the 2018 NBA Finals.
The score was tied with 4.7 seconds left when George Hill missed his second of two free throws, but J.R. Smith made an impressive play to get the offensive rebound — then tried to dribble out the clock like the Cavaliers were ahead.

Now, you can own Smith’s Game 1 jersey — the one he was wearing when he made a play so thoughtless LeBron James broke his own hand punching a whiteboard in frustration over it. It’s available on the NBA auction site. The bidding goes on for three more days, until June 21.
As of Monday morning, the current bid is $3000.
A Warriors’ fan is going to buy this thing, not a Cavaliers fan. They are still trying to repress this memory. |

Might go for a pretty good price in Oakland. |

It was the 3-4 seconds after the rebound that mattered. If JR had attempted a shot or made a pass earlier to a teammate to attempt one there wouldn't be anything to meme about even if the shot didn't go in.He just didn't know the score was tied and then lied about it immediately after.
That's what make this play so memorable. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Someone out there was willing to pay $23,548 for the jersey that J.R. Smith was wearing during the Cavaliers' devastating Game 1 overtime loss to the Warriors in the NBA Finals. You know, the game where Smith made that heartbreaking mistake, not realizing the Cavs were not winning in the last seconds of regulation.
NBA Auctions put the jersey up on June 1 and closed it on Thursday. The crazy jump in price happened from Monday to Thursday when it began climbing from $2,160 to more than $23,000.

The NBA is auctioning off JR Smith's game-worn jersey from GM1 of the NBA Finals! After 51 bids, it's up to $3,000.http://auctions.nba.com/iSynApp/auctionDisplay.action?auctionId=2339486 …

The jersey LeBron James wore when he dropped 51 points in Game 1 went for a lot more. That closing bid was $102,322.
But it's clear Smith's blunder definitely upped the price for some reason because the jersey of Kevin Love, who scored the second-most points with 21 in that loss, went for a price that's measly in comparison, $4,520.
Congrats to whoever placed the winning bid for the Smith jersey, I guess. |
