thing about players that plays great in g league is that once coming to nba they play lot worse bc they get less playtime, different teammate, and completely different level demanded. i think you can only measure its real value if you give them starter mins and decent chance to show. tell them dont worry about try to play right just try to play how you did back in g league dont kill the confidence

He might be a better 3 point shooter too. Kid has been knocking them down.

Still raw.
Hope he can help next year.

Can't agree! What about Nwaba? There were plenty of G-League studs that got little chances in the NBA and succeeded in those small amount of minutes.

Sure, there are worlds between G-League and NBA . So it is the right way to implement a kid like Bonga carefully . He's from oversea, didn't know the intensity of the NBA. He'll get burned if you throw this raw kid in the cold water.

It’s really good to see him shoot this well. In summer league, it looked like he had flashes of brilliance reading the floor but his shot was an unknown.

The willingness to take them at a high volume is a huge deal, which has always been a problem for BI.

The volume is fine. Think he settled on a lot of these because he was playing 4/5 on defense.

Finished 6 of 16 trying to force the issue a bit on drives. Essentially, it was his best shot.

Bonga still needs time to develop, but it's certainly looking like Bonga is on his way to approximating what we want to see from "role player" BI.

I'd argue he'd get pushed around more.

Well, I assume Bonga would play point guard, not small forward.

Seems like Bonga will be able to naturally put on more weight than BI. It will be interesting to see what Bonga's frame and game look like at age 21.

While that's what I'd prefer, I still think he'd get pushed around by point guards.

Stoked to see my man Bonga in person!

Well Bonga is only 19 now and people say he looks 40. So in two years, he'll look, like what, 80?

Ingram's not playing small forward either. Unfortunately.

You know how well Josh Hart is playing? Hart is 4 years 8 months older than Bonga. It's exciting to think about how good Bonga could be 4-5 years down the road.

Bonga had some nice flashes last night vs Santa Cruz, on offense and defensively, but he is very raw.
IMO he is at least 2-3 years of hard work away from being an asset. However his talent and potential are quite apparent. It's just going to take time.

Stat Line: Bonga 15 points on 6 - 18 FG, (1- 3 -3pfg), 5 reb, 2 assists

I think Bonga would serve well as a combo guard, and a 2 next to Lonzo eventually if he reaches the potential he has.

Till then I'd say Josh Hart should be the starting 2 next to Lonzo, but imo Bonga should be being groomed for that combo role, as he has some very good natural instincts at the 1, but if his shot can continue to hold up, and his handle improve, he'll also be able to make some noise at the 2 as well, and that's a good fit next to Lonzo.

Right now though Hart should be starting at the 2 and Ingram at the 3 with Bron at the 4.

As it stands though, Bonga is still raw, but he is coming along very well for his age.
