He looked lost on offense, very understandable, but I thought he looked good on defense. He challenge some shots around the basket, took a charge, had couple steals that led to a fast break assist and a bucket.

He showed some good defensive instincts. He definitely used his length to bother shots.

Isaac Bonga will learn a lot of point guard skills from Lebron James and Rondo. What a find!

What happens if he doesn’t make this year’s roster?

I think this season, he will spend considerable time in the dleague.

He is a long term project, but he has a lot of potential.

I want to see him play PG with the starting lineup. He has no value playing with the ball hog backup guards we have.

I like Bonga but we should have kept him overseas for a year. Low IQ right now and there's still some solid FA's available.

That steal and hit ahead for an assist was nice.
His move into the layup was nice.
First game jitters.
Kid looks smooth. Can't wait to see him develop.

I liked his one step from the top of the key to lay it up

Bonga may have broken the record for most turnovers in a NBA debut game. I think his first four or five possessions were stolen in some way.

With that said, he is a project with obvious potential, and I'm surprised we brought him over from Europe so soon. Hopefully he spends the majority of the year in the G-League getting reps instead of on the bench.

If he was left handed everybody would be saying that he is a poor man's Lamar Odom.

I'm pretty sure he IS staying overseas, it just that their season has ended so he can come get a taste of the NBA.

He's only 18 and I have no idea of his English skills, so I don't think you can judge his NBA IQ at this time, but he also just got here and has not practiced with the Team much (if at all).

So I'm fine giving him time to develop, he has a great NBA-ready frame (at 6'8")...

cheers...

He's from Germany, so he probably speaks English better than most Americans.

He is fast, long, can get into the passing lanes. I see what the Lakers see in him. But he is super raw.

Wouldn't he benefit more from the G-League over returning overseas?

Wouldn't the NBA-lite training, coaching, players and getting comfortable with the NBA culture instead of Euro leagues be a better developing ground?

Young man looked like a project. But at only 18 years old he might be a nice addition in a year or two with some development.

When he dribbles the ball he reminds of a young Lamar Odom. He looks fluid with the ball in his hands. Just saying.

And what was Odom considered? A poor man's Lebron James. I see what the Lakers are doing here. I think Bonga will be around for awhile unless another team sends them an offer they cant refuse.

It's a long term, low risk, but L.A. can afford this right now. It is a good feeling knowing they are in win now mode, but they are still building toward the future.

Fine with the risk. He is a talented but incredibly raw talent.

Seems like a pick to feed the pipeline for the future. I'm seeing it as a strategy to cover the possibility of trading away some 1st round picks over the next couple years. By 2020 Bonga may "feel" like a first round pick.

You guys know Bonga's probably not going to be good right away right? Yeah that guy is a project.

He’s our 35 year old project. I need a birth certificate. He’s not 18.

The cert will be in German and I don't think they fake those there. He does look older but some kids do.

Yeah he looks way older than 18, but he was born in Germany so I guess that legitimizes it a bit.

That is a good strategy to use the 2nds like that with 1st gone in trades.

Karl is using the same plays in G league so transition to NBA club is more seemless. Bonga didn’t get ball passed his way much. When he received it he traveled twice off the dribble. Learning the Lakers playa in G league may be better than other stuff he’ll learn in German league.

A 6' 9" Point Guard?

It'll never work...

I wish we had him playing point guard instead of off the ball, standing in the corner.

He has a lot of gravity driving. They were doubling him every time he drove. Nice little shake and loooong first step for a 6'9" guy.

I'm fine with him being a project and all but not sure why we traded upbto get him. Think he would've been there when we drafted or even undrafted
