I think we see him as possibly forming into a player in the Lamar Odom mold. |

if so, he is miles and miles behind where Odom was at this age. |

really curious what we will see after a season of d-league |
is there any chance he was trying to bank that 3 he missed? I know it sounds crazy, but the way it hit the board at that angle, it did almost look like he was trying to bank in a 3! If not, he missed by a mile. |
he is supposed to need reworking his shot.
at 6'9" and possibly still growing, he is really interesting with his pg skills.
much less skinny than bi at the same age so that he could be a bigger stronger bi even if he does not shot as well as bi.
i first thought he should first focus on 3p%, but may be a pull-up is even more important as it is more likely to be successful.
after another 15lbs, he would be much better driving to the basket. |

I'm at the point where I don't question Ryan West and Jesse Buss, if they think someone is going to be great, then I STFU |

1. The Lakers have done a good job with ready to play guys in the draft. Perhaps they felt our roster was set enough to get a project... explains the Mitchell Robinson rumors as well.
2. Isaac's agent is also Clint Capela and AD's agent. Just keeping touch? |

If the "trade" is a 3-year deal for Bonga now instead of stashing him overseas in exchange for an Anthony Davis trade later, then everyone should be all in on that one. |

Heh. Not saying it'll happen. Just a fun connection to look at. |

He needs to play in South Beach all year to work on his game. I would not bring him up for a single game baring injuries that force people out. Lots of potential but needs lots of work. _________________ Keep winning! |

I'm struggling to come up with a comp for Bonga, but I think a young Boris Diaw possibly. |

The Lakers already have five second and first year players that will get game minutes this next season (hopefully): Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Wagner and Svi. Zubac should also get a significant amount of time this next year. With the way that the Summer League is going, even Caruso may get called up. That is more than enough development for young players. There really shouldn't be much time available for Boonga. _________________ “When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.”

we have 14 players including deng, so really 13.
so we dress 12 - which means the young players can rotate to get experience in garbage time for blow-outs.
that would initially be mostly mo, but i could see bonga getting some experience after some time in the d-league |

I see him as the old but very fit African guy at the gym who plays in aerobic shoes and way-too-loose running shorts that reveal way too much. But he's a rich man's version of this.
Am I the only one who played against guys like this? |

What about Batum?
Can he ever be what Batum was when he earned his big contract in Portland? PG skills are there. Comparable size and athleticism. _________________ White guy to white guy alley oop |

Good post that is an apt comparison. Both are somewhat mystery guys drafted off their measurables, age, and hypothetical ceiling. However both guys also look like they can't play basketball at least at the NBA level.
At least with Bongo we didn't waste a 1st round pick on him. We've also got about 10 wings/PGs ahead of him so I will just view treat him as a stashed lottery ticket, if he somehow puts it together then his length, vision and shooting touch makes a very good player. |

Batum a much better shooter and better athlete at the rim. Bonga seems to not have great finishing abilities yet. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yes, South Bay is likely where he'll be, although I don't think anyone expected an 18 year old 2nd round pick to make a rotation that will feature Lebron James. They drafted him as a 2-3 year project.
I do think he's capable of more than what he's showing. The nerves and inexperience appear to be taking away his confidence. |

They drafted him to take over for Lebron without missing a beat in 4 years. _________________ Previously LBJ23 |

Exactly.
He's Lebron on a tricycle.
Brandon Ingram on a bike. |
