Does not have the vert, but crazy quick feet for his size. He is going to be able to defend real NBA wings I think. Just wow.

Are we doing this again? Really?

It's entirely about the camera angle; some pictures he looks like a kid, some angles he looks older.

never seen an angle where he didn't look 50

I don't get Your point with how's Bonga lookin like!

Bongo was born and raised in Germany and You definitely can't cheat age in Germany.

Maybe he's looking more wrinkled than most teenagers, but that absolutely doesn't correliate with playing Basketball.

If You hear him talking, it's pretty clear that he's a young boy.

Don't be afraid, he really is 18 and I think we got a real big talent at #39

Don't mind his post. His anti bonga from day one.

The important thing is he is vastly improving from day one.

They can't criticize his obvious improvements at just 18 yrs old, so he is criticizing the way he looks..

He handles the ball pretty great for his size.

He make not look fast but covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time.

He made 2 of 3 from 3pt land

Played really good defense.

This kid is growing at a really fast rate. In summer league he was terrible and now he is ripping up the G League at 18. At this rate he will end up in the rotation with the Big Club by Feb.

If we end up moving BI for a 2nd or 3rd star, it looks like Bonga may be able to fill his shoes reasonably well in terms of a long, versatile wing who can defend and create for others.

Mike@lg, I am surprised by your comment at Isaac Bonga. I thought you were initially not high on him?

I wasn't. The limited footage I saw basically replayed the same halfcourt play every time. His shot chart was exactly 3 locations and nowhere else, all based on the same play. He traveled roughly 5x during Vegas Pro League, usually off the initial touch.

The one thing he had going for him was that he's the first player I've ever seen make EVERY single PnR read/option/pass on VERY limited volume. That was super impressive.

During the preseason, he showed some actual comfort out there. His mind/learning process is fast, and that part, you can't scout. Initial comparisons to Kyle Anderson still kind of make me gag, (personally because I liked almost a handful of prospects ahead of him), but some muscle and a set-shot 3-pointer would go miles for him. He actually really tries on defense, especially in Iso, but gets pushed around by everybody.

But when a guy's process time -> action is that fast, you don't want him slowing down at the G-League level and regressing the time.

People have said Lebron is a basketball savant, but he became that over the years. That’s why he can get 29/10/8 while looking like he’s not trying.

However, Bonga is showing that he’s a basketball savant at 18 years of age. Magic is not trading his prized draft pick. #untouchable

LeBron was a savant at 15. I've seen more than enough St. Mary's Vincent HS footage as proof. We are definitely not equating Bonga to LeBron.

Just gotta chime in with the kudos for Bonga. He's doing what legit NBA players do when they play in the G League.

Still a skinny kid, so much upside. He gives us good reason to follow South Bay games.

Now that you have had the opportunity to watch him play in pre-season and possibly his first gleague game where would you slot him in your draft listing?

Roughly the same draft spot? I still consider the draft prospects I did like as possibly better prospects. Back then we were talking Melton, Holiday, Bruce Brown, Okogie, Shamet, Vanderbilt, Alize Johnson (good thing I kept the signature).

My thought process would have been roughly the same. Jerome has been disappointing but I'm holding out. Holiday isn't getting the PT I think he should. Bruce Brown is like a lesser De'Anthony Melton on both ends, but better strength. DV I wasn't sure of, but he's from Nova. Okogie I wasn't sure of offensively, but he did have defensive tools. Vanderbilt I liked A LOT because he has the ball-handling and size at 4/3 and showed insane rebound rates. Shamet was the bonafide shooter. Alize was perfect for small ball stuff.

I think Bonga should be on the LAL roster, because my biggest concern is guys not playing at or just ahead of NBA speed. That part is hard to scout, and one of the toughest indicators for success at the NBA level.

The thing I'm most annoyed about is, 3 draft picks. Wagner's been hurt, Bonga is still traveling (and getting away with it on the catch), and Svi's been struggling.

Last year, we had 1 late first contributing right away. Hopefully the current draft class gets there soon.

It was that deep a draft.

I was trying to poke fun and make a joke but I guess it did not come off that way

But seriously, it’s good to see Bonga show promise.

Just saw the Laker/King g-league game. Mo looked rusty. Bonga looked ready to move up. Using length well in a crowd. Boarding well. Making good decisions in the P&R.

He's not getting pushed around like he was in SL.

Welp. Make sure you watch their second game before you say he's ready to move up

I wanna see how quickly he can change direction while handling the ball and he can get by his man in the half court.

I'm already seeing he can finish with either hand at the rim and has a nice soft touch.

He's skinny now but he looks like he'll fill out more especially in his legs. He's long but doesn't look as gangly as Brandon.

He's probably not too close to as long as Ingram, his least measurement is 6'11.75 wingpsan... I'd guess his reach is pretty impressive though - probably around 8'11(legit PF)..
But Ingram is 7'3+ with 9'1.5 reach. Ingram is just unique length wise. Bonga's less long limbs do allow him to be quicker than Ingram though.

I'm starting to like his upside a lot.

You feel his shooting stroke is respectable now?

His shot pocket is a little low on his 3pt set shot but the release is fairly quick and tbe form is much improved from jr play.

He may need to develop a true jump shot for mid range.

He has really good touch so that gives hope he will become a better than average 3pt shooter.

I got this from Eurospect.com website. They said his wingspan might be closer to 7'3...

EVALUATION
STATISTICS

STRENGHTS WEAKNESSESS
6-10 in shoes with a good wingspan (measured 7-0 at the 2017 BWB but reportedly closer to 7-3)
underdeveloped frame but has significant potential. 20+ pounds in the last 6 months (200 pounds now)
super agile for his size, long strides in transition. Impressive footwork and body coordination
late-bloomer physically, might have an inch or maybe even more left

Ya his shot has improved to solid for his age. the form will improve with strength. the actual stroke is quick, the set-up is slow. you're right about the midrange and players do naturally elevate more from there.

Nice, another untouchable player. How many do we have now? We can add him to Hart.
