I get that NBA defenses are way tougher than G-league and in the G-league, he is the man whereas in the NBA, his minutes are few and far between, but guy is hitting 45% from 3 in the G-league and 32% in the NBA - what gives? A lot of his misses in the NBA are horrible bricks too - is he a rhythm shooter like Jimmer? He is shooting in the 50's in FT shooting FFS (small sample size but a FT is a FT).

Reggie is nice too but he could be signed in offseason.

Sure, if you're okay with just mailing in this season.

lol so Reggie is going to save our season?

I think it was a combination of rhythm and just the jitters of being on the big stage that he would have eventually got out of. You can tell he played every minute like it it was the last audition for his playing career.

Good luck Svi. Really wish we had been a better team this season so we could have gotten him some more minutes on the floor. Guy has the potential to be in the league for a long time.

I think maybe one of the most optimistic scenarios for Svi's career is that he becomes a player like Bullock, so I don't really care he's gone.

huh. doesn't seem like a move to make if the team is mailing it in this year...svi and a future second is a bit steep for a player who can walk after the season...?

I guess they weren't sold on his defense? He'll be a great shooter in this league.

I am not seeing him as an NBA player at all. It was a good deal for us.
Good luck to Mr. Svi.

Agreed. For some sharpshooter, he sure missed a lot - right down to free throws (which should be automatic if you’re a ‘shooter’).

I wish Svi luck, I think he can stick in the NBA if he gets consistent minutes. From what I've read on Bullock, he's a pretty decent player, so I'm not going to criticize the trade, but I would have liked to have seen Svi develop more here had the circumstances allowed for it.

WTF?

To get a shooter they trade our best one.

It should be obvious to anyone who understands basketball even a little bit, that in a year Svi was going to be our best shooter, period.

Once the game slows down for him, which it was already doing, he would become our best shooter.

What kills me about this trade even more, is that he isn't only a shooter. He obviously has playmaking skills, and good defesive instincts.

THIS BLOWS.

i was really high on Svi, he's not just a pure shooter, but i always thought his athleticism has been underrated. i've seen him play pretty good defense moving his feet out on the perimeter.

Great effort, as well - really chasing JJ all over the floor. If that Svi 3 ever becomes consistent...

Then we get a taller Klay

Svi is a more dynamic ball-handler and passer than Klay, so...

sometimes we are delusional as Laker fans

Yep I seen many times of him straight shutting down players trying to drive against him so completely they don’t even attempt to take the shot.

Bobby Marks
ESPN

Detroit went from a team that was $482K below the tax to currently $2.6M with the acquisition of Svi Mykhailiuk and now Thon Maker. The trade with the Lakers for Mykhailiuk allowed Detroit to pursue Maker and stay below the tax. Maker has a $2.8M cap hit this season and $3.6M in 2019-20. He will become a restricted free agent in 2020.
