Part of me wonders if he intentionally made his arms shorter (as other players have done) in order to score higher on the vert test and his wingspan is more or less what his height is. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Don't really care about his wingspan. The relation between good defense and a big wingspan doesn't exist, it's one of the most overblown myths out there.
Good defense is mostly about fundamentals and mentality, and looks like Svi checks on both boxes. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

I've said this before, but the wingspan thing is really overblown. The wingspan issue only matters within context of the position someone plays.
For example, if you play SF, what kind of wingspan do you usually want from a starting caliber NBA SF. Probably somewhere between 6'8 and 6'11? Anything above that is pretty gravy. Lebron has a 7'0 wingspan while Tobias Harris has a 6'11 wingspan... and those guys both play minutes at the 4.
What kind of wingspan do you want from an average starting SG? 6'5 to 6'7? Courtney Lee has a 6'7 wingspan. JJ Redick's wingspan is only 6'3.
Svi's 6'7-6'8 height is misleading, because you begin to think of him as a small forward. From that standpoint, his wingspan is a red flag. However, if you start to look at Svi as a PG or SG, suddenly a 6'5 wingspan is pretty normal. Thus, the key for Svi is whether he is quick enough to guard most SGs (or even PGs). Thus far, he's shown he can, which means his 6'5 wingspan isn't actually an issue. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

I heard there is a pill you can take to temporarily shorten your arms six inches, but then the next day they grow back .

What impressed me is that Svi seems to have incredible footwork/footspeed.
Having watched none of his games, thought he would be a catch and shoot guy but he's way more than that. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

That step-back J is reDONKULOUS, not just for a second rounder, but for a lottery pick. And combined with quick first step and hops...
Anyone worrying about his dam|\| arm length at this point is getting a a little (a lot) silly. |

I thank the Lord that he has short arms because if he didn't he never would have made it to 47. Kid is a great shooter and has an all round game and very athletic. |

Wingspan has become the NBAs 40 yard dash. Stupid and overhyped measuring figure that people put way too much stock into. |

I'm still interested to hear about how you can shrink your wingspan. Asking for a friend. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I'm not sure that you can change the length of your arms much through effort. |

Some appendages retract when it's cold.
Maybe Svi just got out of a pool? |

Lol shorter wingspan via shrinkage, George Costanza-style. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."
