I know it's a little slow in here during the All-Star break, so I thought I'd throw this out here. How long have you've been a Laker fan and what turned you over to the Purple and Gold? For me growing up in New Mexico there wasn't really an NBA allegiance to any team. My dad liked the Celtics but I couldn't get into them. Then the Lakers took a chance on a guy from the University of New Mexico named Michael Cooper and the rest is history. I've been more loyal to the Lakers than UNM because I ended up going to New Mexico State. But anyways, that's how I became a Laker fan. |

I was born in 1980 and started watching the lakers pretty much around 91, although I may have started earlier. That was the year the Bulls beat us in the Finals and I hated Michael Jordan Ever since. Growing up in So Cal I was destined to be a laker fan. |

Wilt, Jerry, Elgin and the later Showtime era, the pride, passion and sheer brilliance and excellence displayed from one franchise. It was enthralling then to follow and still is today! I know things look bleak now guys but you'll be seeing the sunshine come and you'll spirits will be lifted come Thursday when the Lakers undergo an EXTREME MAKEOVER: LAKERS EDITON! |

the very first NBA game I watched was a Laker game in 1987...with showtime..(I grew up in Vancouver BC) How could you not become a fan after watching that? Die Hard since then...stayed strong throughout the Magic HIV fiasco..when Sedale Threat was bringin up the ball.. |

At first I was just an MJ fan didn't care for much when I was a little kid. My family are Laker fans. And then Kobe came into the league and I was liked him as much as I like MJ, then I started to watch basketball more, and the Lakers was just my team.
And one day I cut myself and my blood was P&G, went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with Laker fanitis. |

In 94 when i was in 4th grade, I was watching eddie Jones and Nick at night play ball. I liked eddie Jones, and continued to follow the lakeshow from then on. Then We got Kobe and Shaq and the rest is history. Those who know me, know that i am no bandwagon guy. Through thick and thin!! |

I started watching because of Kobe, and since I just happened to start watching during the 2000 finals, I guess I jumped on the bandwagon.
Before that I had no clue what this lakers thing everyone kept talking about was. I think I only knew MJ, Drob and Hakeem before I started watching the lakers. |

I was born in 1956 and have memories of my older brother being (Wilt) and I was the guard(Jerry West) and running pick and rolls and such on the playground. One of my favorites was Wilt in the post and West breaks to the basket and gets a behind the back bounce pass from Wilt for the layup. I know it sounds kind of boring compared to all the dunks we see today, but it really was something to see. Made me a Laker fan for life. BTW, grew up an hour south of Chicago, moved to Los Angeles in 1979 to present. |

I was born in 86... So I missed the showtime era basketball. However, fortunately for me.. my father had taped all the big playoff games.. the parade.. I had all the highlights at my fingertips. THat.. and a Lakers basketball court for when I was 6.. Magic Johnson ball signing around the same age.. growing up in SoCal... they all contributed.
As I grew up and watched them more and more.. they weren't my favorite just to say I had a favorite.. I grew to really admire and appreciate the game and the team.
Just like kobekillin and anotherlakerfan mentioned..
Lakers will always be my favorite team in sports..

I'm from Southern California . Lived in SD and a little of LA . When I was a young boy , I can remember them calling him " Magic " I asked pops why ... he jokingly said " because he can do real magic out on the court ! " I was and will be devoted to my Lakers for the rest of my life after that moment . |
