My projected minutes distribution (240 minutes total per game)

I am assuming Luke starts the season playing a lot of guys, but minutes are going to be in high demand with this team it appears:

Ball 26
Rondo 22
Caldwell Pope 24
Hart 24
Ingram 32
Stephenson 14
L.A. Bron James 32
Kuzma 30
McGee 18
Beasley 18

I could see Stephenson losing minutes to other guys if he doesn't play well.

I wouldn’t mind Stephenson and Beasley losing minutes to Mykhailiuk and Wagner.

I like the idea of a lineup with one of Ingram/Zo/Rondo as the primary facilitator, LeBron as the secondary with more finishing responsibilities to go with Beasley, Kuzma and one of Hart/Pope. Offensively you have a really aggressive group who can hit you from a lot of spots and play well with pace. You're going to get mismatches pretty easily, especially with all that passing. Good rebounding team too. Defensively, switch everything and maybe do some strategic gambling. The interchangeability of guys and relative depth lets you keep the foot on the gas peddle. As Ingram grows he gives you ultimate flexibility.

Then in those closing situations, you have the best in the game.

I could see Stephenson losing minutes to Svi, I don't think Mo is ready to take minutes from Beasley.. yet.

Honestly I hope Lance doesn't play every night.he's not gonna see any mins at PG unless a injury happens. Defensively I doubt he will play more SG than Hart & KCP unless he becomes the lance from that contract year. Both KCP and Hart are good defenders amd both shoot better from 3. Will he get back up SF mins? Maybe but, my guess is Kuzma or Beasley will get those mins. Maybe he gets back up mins at SF and Kuz and Beas get mins at PF and Center.

Rondo 22 mins
Hart 20 mins
Lance 18 mins
Beasley 18 mins
Kuzma 28 mins

I'm not sure Svi and Mo touch the floor except in blow outs. Lebron now has the luxury of rest because Rondo will run the show when he sits. That Bench could be the best bench next season.

Yeah, I agree completely. Beasley can be a very solid role player and I do not see Mo playing much besides garbage minutes next season even though I will admit he surprised the hell out of me in Summer League so if he can start earning minutes by the second half the season that would be fantastic news going into the next year if we land another max player.

Yeah, I agree that there's going to be minutes (even if just at mop-up time) for Wagner and Svi, if not also for Zubac when injuries piles up. What seems also missing from the Laker lineup projections above is accounting for teams with tall scoring forwards and centers. I have a hard time believing LeBron is going to be the Laker defending the tallest guy on the other team very often.

I'd be surprised (if also pleased) if LeBron were to complete the season having averaged less than 34 minutes per game. Seems an unlikely result, though; if the team is in stiff contention for a playoff slot and he's the difference-maker for achieving that result, one must remember he's never averaged less than 35 mpg as a pro. 32 mpg ? At the very minimum, if healthy.

PF-Kuzma 34 minutes
I could see him as the teams 2nd leading scorer. Hitting 3 threes per game in about 8 attempts. Look for 18-20ppg from him to go with 6-7 rebounds.

SF/Center James 20 minutes
He will go to center or power forward for his remaining 14 minutes per game.

C-McGee 15 minutes
Hes a good player, but limited.

PG-Ball 24 minutes
I figure he will split time almost equally with Rondo.

SG-Hart 34 minutes
College, his rookie season and summer league he has improved and didn't disappoint. He most likely will do really well in camp too if he continues at this progression. Could be the teams 3rd leading scorer. I give the edge to him over BI right now because of his ability to hit the three. Plus his D gives the Lakers more reason to give him big minutes.

SF/PF-Ingram
I think the Lakers should give BI big minutes off the bench. He is arguably more versatile and more all around scorer than Kuzma and Hart. He will seriously battle for a starting spot in camp. I think a lot will depend on how much muscle he has put on and how much he has improved his 3. If he shows big improvement with that he could easily replace Kuzma or Hart in the starting line up, but for now I'm just going for what I have seen. Regardless, Lakers could be compelled any way to play about 34 minutes off the bench, where he could get 15-17ppg and compete for 6th man honors. Plus this is a lot of show casting for a potential trade.

PG-Rondo
An arguement can be made that either him or Ball deserve 30-35 minutes as a starter, but they likely wont play together so I guess the best scenario would be to split them 24 and 24? Idk but a good problem to have I guess.

SF-KCP
About 14 minutes and back up SF. 3 and D. He could be getting more minutes, but I think it might be hard to not play Svi.

SG-Svi
About 14 minutes as back up SG. Could end up being starting SG some day. Have to give him minutes due to his shooting

Center-Wagner
Also need to give this guy minutes over Zubac just due to his shooting ability and intangibles.

So there you go, 10 man rotation. Makes sense with the fast pace the Lakers play. Plus nobody getting to crazy if an amount of minutes, including Lebron. This obviously helps keep them fresh for the play offs.

Lonzo, rondo, Caruso
KCP, Hart, Lance
Ingram, Beasley, svi
Lebron, Kuzma, wear
JaVale, Zubac, Wagner

Interior defense is a concern, don’t see much improvement in 3pt shooting, unless svi plays. Hopefully our young guns are ready to step up to the next level, esp. Ingram. I think rondo and beas will be good additions. Zubac would benefit a lot playing w lebron. If all goes well, I’d say 2nd in the West! Let’s go lakers!

I haven't really considered the idea of NOT having Lonzo in the closing lineup.

In my opinion, he's going to be our second most important player next year, but in game-closing situations I wonder if Luke has the stones to bench him if game flow dictates it.

PG - Ingram
SG - Hart
SF - KCP
PF - Kuzma
C - LeBron

I can see being a being the closing lineup come playoff time when the dust settles.

I am concerned you are correct.....and that concerns me. Really do not see the benefit for the Lakers in the long view. I fear Lebron is going to feel more comfortable with several of these vets, which will put pressure on Luke to allow them to take more minutes than optimal from the younger core.

If the FO can look at me and claim they feel absolutely confident that we have a reasonable chance to win a NBA Championship this season....then I get it. Since I doubt that is the case, we still have to be doing everything to optimize the 2019-20 season by developing the long term pieces and/or increasing their market value.

Any regular rotation of more than 10 guys is unrealistic in my opinion.

Not that everyone won't play in blowouts and such, but for regular scheduled minutes? It is probably 10 guys maximum for a regular rotation and likely less than that in the playoffs should we find ourselves there.

LBJ
Ingram
Kuzma
Ball
McGee
KCP
Hart
Rondo
Beasley

I think the 9 players above are guaranteed to get minutes if they are healthy as far as being in the regular rotation.

That 10th spot could vary, guys like Stephenson, Svi, Wagner, Zubac, Caruso could see minutes at times depending on the game, etc.

It's really hard to determine minutes, but I do expect the veterans to get more mid-season PT and the 2nd year/3rd year guys wall off a bit prior to All-Star break. Guys like Beasley and Stephenson getting a few 20-30 minute games to get some midseason wins wouldn't surprise me.

That's where the veteranness kicks in. It's like young players want to go 100% all the time and burn out a bit, while veterans play at a high floor, but still have an extra gear when nearing the end of season into the playoffs.
