Actually, no. I have no crystal ball. I definitely did not foresee career highs in all those areas. Its just that I have always admired the long, athletic, get up and down the court types. In essence, Golden State has too because their current center Damian Jones is just like McGee; long, athletic, pongo stick jumping ability.
I felt we needed that type of 5 for a very long time, and McGee certainly fills that bill. He makes such a perfect over the top of the defense target for passes. Lonzo, LeBron, and especially Rondo love these type of targets. |

Step 1: Put Javale McGee in the game
Step 2: Win
How many 4th quarter leads have we blown going small? Leave the man in the game. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

I honestly think 50% of the halfcourt offense should just be running lobs for him.
Instead, contested long or midrange 2... |

Or the close ones the refs missed as goal tends. He gets like 1-2 every game. _________________ Tacos |

This isn’t just a bargain, it is simply amazing, even vets who sign for cheap don’t have this sort of Impact, with maybe the GP and Malone signings being the only debatable... what a great signing by Rob and Magic. |

McGee's playing like how I play as McGee on 2k. All those years he was making boneheaded plays on the court, I was using him on 2k and playing how he is playing right now.
Glad to see the real McGee has caught up to the video game McGee. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

McMVP Is incredible
The impact he's having far exceeds some max contract bigs like Drummond, DeAndre Jordan etc.. He might have clogged up the lane too much for the way the Warriors played but gotta be thankful for it since we would never get him for the min if he had a chance to show his full repertoire, his length and athleticism is perfect for this no contact era. |

He's playing just as good as the big money guys like Adams and Capela. Easily my favorite Laker right now next to Lonzo. Crazy impact. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |

This dude is legit. He plays with hustle, skill, maturity and intelligence. I used to think he was a scrub when he was with Denver but man he’s just too damn consistent to not recognize how good he is. If he keeps this up we may start hearing comparisons to past Laker bigs. _________________ "a new level of asinine intellectual dishonesty that has rarely been witnessed here."

Mcgee has been a real surprise. I love what he is bringing. I also think Lance Stephenson has been great as well. _________________ “What is 17,505”

I'm sure most of us and the team would love to keep him here long term. Unfortunately that probably won't be in the cards. Next year will likely be his last chance to land a decent contract. And he's playing so well this year I bet he gets a better offer than the Lakers will be able to offer him with their eyes set on a max free agent. If he keeps playing like this way he'll fetch $10M+/year. Given his age, and how disappointing he played after he got his first big contract, that would be a risky signing even if it were possible. I tend to think this is not just a contract year surge, that the way he was viewed before, and his time spent with the Warriors has changed him. But there's no guarantee of that.
So personally, I doubt he'll be back after this year. The exception might be if they strike out in free agency they might give him a 1 year or a 1 year plus team option deal to punt another season. Given Lebron's age I doubt they punt. They'll likely go all out and land someone next summer. Though I'd like to see him back. Whether he is or not though he's far exceeded expectations, and been one of the Lakers best players this season. Possibly their second best player performance wise this season. |
