Everyone out and safe (RIP to the retired SEAL who lost his life in preparations leading up to the rescue). Wonderful outcome!
I read a quote from, I think, one of the British divers that first found the kids and who had been going in each day and pulling them out. He basically said that diving and especially cave diving has always been his passion and he hoped someday it would have a purpose. He feels saving these 12 kids and their young coach was that purpose.
The courage and commitment of these rescue divers and the courage and amazing calm of the kids has been a wonderful story! The divers and kids will get most of the attention (as they should) but there was a massive team of people planning and aiding, positioning air tanks and ropes, pumping water out, providing transport, medical care and food for all. People and nations pulling together shows the best side of our species. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

Great news! NYT reporting boys were given anxiolytics to help them stay calm before diving out but it was not chloroform. |
