I think being INJURY PRONE is an illusion. We like to say that with people who gets injured a lot, but in life, it could simply be a string of coincidences. Like is there a certain basketball move he does that is known to injure hands? LOL! |

Geez. He's been injuring his hands often.
Twice this year.
And he hurt his hand as a Bull in the playoffs a couple of seasons ago. Was giving the Celtics the business till the injury and the Bulls lost. |

I love Rondo but I rather sign D Rose in the off-season than to have to deal with rondo’s paper mache hands for another season. |

I had the same surgery and it took me two months to heal but I wasn't 100% until 1 year later.
Everyone is different though. I remember Mike Miller had a torn ligament in his first season with the Heat and it effected his shooting. We don't need Rondo to shoot anyway though. |

I don't know if he's injury prone per se. I gonna say he's a bit fragile evidenced by his games played stats.

A finger sprain requires surgery? Unless it wasn't a sprain. Makes me think he came back too early from the hand surgery, for all we know this is just to give his hand more time to fully heal up. With all that being said, this still sucks. He was the catalyst to keeping the youngsters calm and beating GS. |

I see it in the short and long terms as a good thing, all from the context that this Laker squad was never going to contend for a WCF slot, with or w/o Rondo.
I think Rondo's injury and surgery actually helps the franchise in the long run more than if he was available for action tomorrow. He's still here to counsel Lonzo and other guards. That's valuable stuff.
The PT he'd have used now through early February now goes to guys who need time on court in this league and together, giving staff better visibility of who can do what with whom. |

I thought he was the security blanket because Lonzo was injury prone. This signing is looking like a bust. |

He'll be back come playoff time to help the Lakers close out games considering they're having trouble doing that without either Lebron or Rondo on the floor. |

It's better with both of them. Rondo takes some pressure off Lebron in the closing minutes instead of the young guys handing Lebron the ball, then stand around and watch for 5 minutes. |

My guess is he could and would play through it if it was the playoffs, but it is December and it makes sense to rest his legs anyway (and ice his hands, lol) because this guy is a flat out baller and isn't scared of anyone. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

4-5 weeks is an optimistic expected return guys. Just being in the know, when you tear a ligament and surgical intervention is required, think about what he needs to be able to do. You ever jam your finger off a fast pass or while trying to grab a rebound, you're essentially spraining the ligaments in your fingers when that happens. Now imagine having surgery for a torn ligament and needing to get that ligament strong enough to be able to sustain an accidental jam without re-tearing the surgically repaired finger. It's not like his metacarpal fracture because he's got a plate and screws in there to strengthen the bone. Ligaments are soft tissue and generally take a longer time to heal. |

A sprain is a tear of the ligament. There are different grades of sprains. Grade 3 is the worst possible sprain you can have; it's essentially a full tear. The ligaments in your fingers are small so a grade 3 sprain was not good news, so to answer your question, yes a finger sprain can require surgery. Rondo tore the ligament in his ring finger so I'm pretty sure it's unrelated to him coming back too early from the metacarpal fracture he had to his middle finger because sprains occur due to torque applied to the ligament in the wrong direction. He probably jammed it or got his finger caught somewhere causing the sprain. |

So unfortunate for us that hes sidelined the same time as James. With him and Mcgee, i think we win both these games _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82
