We’ve gotta stop coughing up leads with Rondo. Time to sit him and break only in case of emergencies.

Keiff solves about half of that problem.

We have decided to play him as a backup SF and we have no other options. Rondo? We have Caruso. We have enough evidence now. Do it Rob and Frank.

It’s a minimum contract. He can be easily cut with almost no impact to the cap, so who cares? Just need Vogel to keep up his trend of cutting down Rondo’s minutes if he sucks in favor of AC.

Right, the contract is not the issue, the playing time *and* the playing style is.

I still think he has the ability to turn at least one game in a playoff series in our favor. We saw he still has some left in the tank against Boston. Sure, it's once every 10 games, but if he can do that once every 4 or 5 games in the playoffs then we'll be calling his contract a bargain.

I’m not calling to waive him. Just put him as a 3rd PG and he has situational value. I agree he can turn the tide once in a while but not consistently. That’s my issue with him.

For whatever reason, I just have the feeling Vogel is playing the long game and keeping Rondo involved because he's kind of a high maintenance dude with a big ego. The screams to bench Rondo are loud. He hears it, and I'm sure even Rondo hears it. I don't think Frank is a stubborn coach. He usually rides the hot hand rather than a scripted rotation. So I just have to think that Frank is managing egos while keeping the team in 1st place.

Like I said, if Rondo can just turn one game every playoff series in our favor, he'll be a bargain. We already know what we're going to get from Caruso whether he gets 10 minutes or 30.

Clip of Rondo's ridiculously bad, turnstile defense vs Pelicans in link:

It was Rondo’s defense that killed the Lakers. He was getting absolutely blown by at the point of attack on every play.

This number is so hilarious... the Lakers gave up 148.1 points per 100 possessions in Rondo’s minutes against the Pels...

Yeah, as good as Rondo was against the Celtics he was equally or even more so awful against the Pels. We can talk about it being because Lebron was off the floor which was without question part of it but it's hard to do much when Rondo is playing like he was on both ends (which is the norm for him).

You see Caruso come in and just completely change the momentum back in our favor with great plays on both ends which has been a very common theme this season while Rondo has been common at being just absolutely awful. I really hope people are right about Vogel planning to play Caruso more in the Playoffs because Rondo should be no more then a 3rd string PG at this point that gets situational minutes (when he starts out looking like the game against the Celtics then you play him more otherwise get him tf out of the game please).

Totally different offense when he attacks the rim instead of dribbles the air out of the ball behind the 3 point line. More please!

Dudley was on Inside the Green Room last night:

He acknowledges players hear about the fans complaints about Rondo, and he mentioned talking to Rondo that the team needs him to be more aggressive attacking the basket which opens up the floor for them, which was what Rondo did last night.

He must have had a good second half, I watched the first and he was just a body out there.

I'm sure Rondo and the team got blasted at half-time for their lackluster first half effort. Rondo finally stopped dribbling so much and took it to the rim a lot more in the second half.
The team responded and dominated the rest of the game.
STATS: 12 points on 6-10 shooting (0-2 from three) to go with 4 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers and no fouls in 26 minutes. He was a +17.

LOL he played well... of course GSW is full of Gleaguers. Can you name me any of their starting players?

To attack the basket your defender needs to respect your jumper which he doesn't have, and second you need speed which he also doesn't have at this stage of his career.

At this stage I’ve accepted that he will be in the rotation. Just give him one guaranteed 4-5 minute shift. If he is terrible that’s it for the night. If he plays well give him another 4-5 minute shift. Tell him to play hard in those minutes and not “conserve.” What exactly is he conserving his energy for anyways?

Yeah, it was polar opposites each half for sure.. It was frustrating watching Caruso sit when the starting lineup had zero energy and Rondo was awful on both ends the majority of that first half.

The second half though he could have very well been the MVP and the main reason they went on that massive run. He ran the offense beautifully and played solid on the defensive end as well.

Absolutely no question he's got some game left when he wants to play and puts forth the effort it's just extremely frustrating just how awful he is when he "coasts" which is the majority of the time.
