You are getting closer.

6 pack of beer at $8.99 (I would recommend Pacifico at that price point) comes to $10.01 at the counter with tax and CRV. You can pick up the penny out of the change thing if you are as charming as me and avoid any Marie Calenders issues of which there are numerous.
