“Beat LA! Beat LA! Beat LA…”

“Beat LA!” is easily one of the most well-known chants ever invented by opponents. I love to hear this chant! Can you imagine anyone ever chanting “Beat the Kings” or “Beat Philly” and it meaning anything? The mere fact that we have a chant that is universally known and used for decades across the entire NBA is awesome!

When fans from 29 other teams collectively chant that phrase, I get chills! It is one of the highest forms of respect! And the best part about it is that those fans are not trying to respect us.

I haven’t heard that chant in quite some time. The occasional uses of it over the past five seasons have felt more routine because it was somewhat meaningless when you looked at the big picture, and even more so when you considered that many of those seasons we were hoping to lose to better our draft position! I can’t wait to hear it again numerous times throughout the upcoming season! Finally, with a team assembled to once again make a playoff run, the league will dust off that chant and come at us hard with it! I brace myself for the joy of hearing it ring sweet in my ears!

How do you feel about that chant? Are you looking forward to hearing it or do you view that chant differently?

Reminds me of my childhood during the Lakers-Celtics rivalry. It's music to my ears. It's the ultimate show of respect by opponents. I love that the rest of the league hates us. It's a compliment. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Beat L.A. comes from those we made suffer, jealousy or both.

Love it. Makes me proud to know we're hated that much. Just goes to show how successful we've been and how many times we've broken hearts.

I've forgotten the last time I've heard it. This is what's been missing in my life: the soothing and relaxing sound of "beat LA!" Hopefully, the music will be back to my ears this season.

don't like the chant because fans of other teams only chant "Beat LA" once the game is in the bag and its garbage time.

I wish they would chant that in the beginning or in the middle to motivate our players.

It depends.

I love it when it comes from a fanbase whose team actually matters. It annoys me when it comes from fans whose team is irrelevant and has no business having any sense of rivalry with the Lakers.

its usually being chanted because we are good and probably in the playoffs so I like it

Always brings a smile to my face. I'm not about the "hate fueling me to succeed" philosophy, but I feel like I'd really respond to those chants as a Lakers player.
