This is just opinion so;

- Draft is about a +C, the Bonga pick ???

- FA; LeBron is a clear A, Rondo B and down hill from there

LeBron affects everything ina positive manner but some of the other
choices are bloody confusing to me. -B

Solid A for me, Got Lebron on a 4 year deal plus we didn't give away any of the young guys or picks while maintaining a max space for next season and then adding more talent in the draft. Arguably got some undervalued guys on 1 year deals too because of perceived baggage.

Would have been A+ if we didn't strike out on Bongo, you can argue we could have gotten more for Julius but we did him a solid by not holding him hostage and players will notice that.

I give us an A- all things considered.

This year's roster versus last year's roster based on 2017-18 PERs:

Code:
     2018-19                2017-18

PG:
Ball (12.5)            Ball (12.5)
Rondo (15.3)           Ennis (11.1)

SG:
Hart (12.2)            Hart (12.2)
KCP (13.2)             KCP (13.2)
Stephenson (12.4)      Clarkson (16.4)

SF:
BI (13.8)              BI (13.8)
Beasley (17.8)         Brewer (11.2)
Svi (NA)

PF:
LBJ (28.6)             Randle (19.9)
Kuzma (14.2)           Kuzma (14.2)
Deng (NA)              Deng (NA)
                       Nance (20.2)

C:
McGee (22.3)           Lopez (16.4)
Zubac (15.3)           Zubac (15.3)
Wagner (NA)            Bryant (9.9)
As long as the young core makes good improvement this summer, next year's team will be significantly better than this past year's based on PER scores. In addition, they signed LBJ and set themselves up for another max player signing in the summer 2019.

A+

A freaking Plus.

LeBron, baby!

Randle had about 100 good games in his 4 year Lakers career and, while he was on an ascending curve, the best he could do on the open market was a 1+1 , low money, make good deal. That speaks volumes.

Brook Lopez - nice guy. Best he could do on the open market was about half of the MLE. That also speaks volumes.

Boogie? Love the guy - but he suffered one of the worst possible injuries for a basketball player and might not get on the court until March.

Genius GMs are the ones who do not overpay for replaceable talent. Maginka showed great restraint.

We will likely have space to add another max spot next summer if we don't get KL or JB this year.

Meanwhile, we still have BI, Kuz, Hart, Zo, Svi, Wagner and a full wallet of draft picks. Who doesn't think that many of our young 'uns will get better?

A freaking Plus, baby!

Definitely a B (for now) in my book... got LeBron, but lost Randle and were not able to add a 2nd All Star (but maintained cap space for next year)... if we add another All Star next summer I would give us an A...

I liked Randle too, but the minute it was obvious we were gonna be playing LeBron at the 5 he became redundant.

A+++

Signed best player on planet to a 3+1, when hes only been taking 1+1 deals.

Have capspace to sign another max next summer with no trades required.

Kept all the young guys who wanted to be here.

Another solid draft.

Everyone else on 1 year deals.

Combine growth from young guys with another max next summer, more vet help and another draft class and we are a true title contender one year after signing Lebron, with future sustainability. All this after five years in the lotto.

Thats A+++

I'd give them an A-, largely due to landing Lebron. Aside from Lebron and the draft (where I think they did well), I didn't love anything else they did this summer.

I like the Beasley and McGee signings when you take into account their price. I don't mind Rondo, but when he signed for Randle money I have to think they made a bad choice. Don't understand why they didn't bring back Brook when he could be had peanuts. Lance is a wildcard but I tend to think it was a rushed move. Randle, Brook, Thomas > Rondo, Lance, McGee.

Now if they land Kawhii next summer that will change things, and I think they have a good shot at doing just that. So that counts for something. Overall though I entered into the offseason expecting them to get Lebron and George. Not getting George was a big setback. They recovered reasonably well by preserving cap space and bringing in some reasonable quality veterans. The Lebron signing on its own keeps them as an A. Even if it was predestined.

Probably a B-.

Got the best player in the game but We had the opportunity to fill out the roster a lot better than we did.

Overall = A- Got a superstar, got really good Vets and kept felxibility to add another superstar next year. Maybe everything didn't go exactly as planned but their logic is bullet proof.

The Good:
Sign LBJ = A
KCP = A : Added a great shooter only 25
Rondo = A: Added one of the best PG of this current generation
The rest = B

The Bad:
Didnt get DMC = Inc: Dont know if he would of really signed with us
Didnt get PG13 = C: They made it clear to him they wanted him on the team he just didnt sign so no big deal.
Let Randle walk= C: Would of been nice to keep him but he wanted a multi year contract

I can't justify anything less than an A+. Are you really going to let losing Randle for nothing eat at you enough to make it more than a blip on a map that is the franchise changing LBJ signing?

The Lakers didn't hinder any future salary space with their vets, they kept their core and didn't blink with Leonard. I don't think we really grasp value and the miracle that is James signing and believing in the youth and direction. We were wrong about the man we were getting, and you can't quantify the offseason properly by saying "A+" and taking the average grade and letting back end role players weigh down the grade.

This was an A+ offseason period, be happy.

A+ for getting LeBron James off of one of his finest seasons to join a team with a losing record. Doesn't matter that he was leaning towards joining the Lakers, the Lakers still got him to join, and for at least 3 years. Another plus is signing guys to just one-year deals to preserve the maximum cap space for next offseason and maintain cap/roster flexibility.

The downgrade is losing a young asset like Randle for nothing. Even more because of the strained relationship between the front office and the agent which affected the Paul George non-presentation. A painful lesson that I hope the front office has learned and will improve upon for future seasons. The Lakers should have had a better view of their chances of keeping Randle much earlier and if it meant getting only a second rounder for him, then that's better than losing a young asset for no return. The front office will have to do better anticipating these scenarios and try to maximize their asset management.

The draft is to be determined. It looks like Wagner and Svi can play in the league immediately, but the NBA is light years ahead of SPL play. Bonga's development will be closely watched as well.

So overall an A- right now.
