I became an adventurous eater in large part because of him. May the food be delicious up there, Mr. Gold.

Just met him at the Wiltern in May after the screening of his doc City of Gold. I got to tell him how much I appreciated him and conveyed a sense of gratitude for him always being a champion for Los Angeles and defending our City to those who portray us in a negative light.

I also got to tell him about growing up in the same neighborhood as him, which he lovingly referred to as "Baja Beverly Hills".

Rest with the angels you sweet man. This one really hurts. He is irreplaceable.

LG members outside of LA may not know what he meant to the City, but we just lost as important a figure as we had. Can't think of anyone who articulated what makes LA special more than him.

He was basically the Huell Howser of food icon-wise.

tough, tough loss for our city. Jonathan Gold was truly one of a kind. A Los Angeles Icon up there with the likes of Huel Howser and Charles Bukowsky.

Rest In Paradise Mr.Gold.

Damn. This really does suck. Loved listening to his reviews. I’d been getting Jonathan Gold’s recommendations via text message from KCRW’s Good Food program almost weekly for years. The last one was June 29th

Los Angeles is lighting up the city monuments ( City Hall, LAX and others) in gold lights in honor of Jonathan Golds birthday. What an amazing tribute to LA's food ambassador.

I think Gold had national prominence (obviously with the Pulitzer).

But he was also in many food docuseries including most recently, David Chang's Ugly Delicious. Apparently Chang and Gold had some falling out that Chang in his Ringer podcast said he regretted not being able to fix.
