I think it's low. But it is fair because we haven't played a single game yet.

I think the Warriors are in a tier all their own but I think I would rank the Lakers fourth after Warriors/Rockets/Celtics. |

Not a bad guess, as we still have to see how this team fits together. Point is, we have GSW and Houston as clear #1-2, maybe Foston a bit lower and a group of 10 teams - Lakers included - that are pretty much on the same tier. If we’re just a little bit better than expected, we can jump 5 ou 6 positions in this ranking.
So, #9 with a positive trend is not crazy. _________________ .... |

I put us in tier 2 with the Rockets and Celtics, from 2nd to 4th. Warriors all alone in tier 1.
But next season, than we take no prisoners... |

Pretty good ball park at this time of the season. We have Lebron but after him it is all questionable. At least until they play some games and we see what we have. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

given that logic, the team with the greatest question mark, kawhi leonard, should be lower. |
adding Kawhi Leonard to a team that won 59 games last season, had very little change to their roster and promoted HC from within....sure, there is some question around Kawhi's health, but that is literally it....everything else is pretty stable with a high floor. |
You know, minus trading their franchise player. |

OKC with Dennis Schroeder off the bench is huge. I really wanted them to struggle but damn, that's one hell of a pick up. |

I agree, picking him up was huge. Livingston is the only back up point I can think of that's better than him. |

Imagine if they also got Beasley that would have made them favorites to make the finals. |

I think we are right around the 5th seed in the West. I think in the East, Boston and Toronto are decisively better, and the case can be made for Philly. I think the ranking of #9 is pretty spot on if I look at this team with an unbiased eye. |

I think we're going to be 6th or 7th in the West, so this does not surprise me one bit. _________________

I bet if we get Kawhi on July 1st, 2019... and we resign the vets for another 1 year deal... ESPN still ranks us at 7-9 LOL.

Yeah, they are getting so many extra hits and action from both pissed off laker fans and other teams fans laughing about it all so it makes sense from a click bait stand point for sure..
Realistically though even without us playing any games there is zero chance 8 teams are better. The only team that is clearly better is the GSW imo. I understand being conservative and putting us 4-6 maybe but ninth is just silly. No big deal though, I think the current team will thrive with the underrated/disrespected angle anyways! |

I’ve seen comments from people saying the team won’t even make the playoffs and they are laughing at the acquisitions of players like Stephenson and Beasley. They also act like Lebron joined a team that has no talent and won 15 games. |

Out of curiosity I looked at the 2015 results. Cavs were 20-20 after the first 40 games. But then they finished 33-9 the rest of the way. The 2011 Miami Heat started slow too. That could hurt a lot more in the West this year. |

Rondo will be the best backup point in the league by far. |

so i don't see how 9th overall is even a possibility. at worst, we're 7th. |
Relax. It’s a moving ranking. No one has seen how we play yet.
It will adjust accordingly. |

I don't know... I'm thinking Livingston and Schroeder are better. With that being said I see how you could make the case for Rondo. |
