Could've sworn I saw this but I searched back to April posts on here and couldn't find it.
Anybody really enjoying this show? I love the "slow burn" aspect of it and the 3rd episode was pretty nuts. Eliza Scanlen is pretty captivating in her supporting role.
I watched the first episode. May wait until all the episodes are out to binge. I read the book so the mystery is not there for me to keep me intrigued but the cast should still make it entertaining.
I find it kind of odd they're stretching it out for so long when the other Flynn novel worked well as just 1 movie.

The books are always better than TV/movie IMO. And if its a mystery/thriller genre thing then its just like whats the point. So I get it.
Glad I didn't read the books in this case though, its a compelling show.
How's the book? I've read all of hers except this one. Gone Girl is one of my favorite books but I didn't care for Dark Places or the horror short.
The book is a slow burn like the show. I liked Dark Places better tbh but it was enjoyable and keeps you guessing. Flynn writes interesting characters.

Cool. Thanks. I need to read it. Gone Girl is one of my favorite books yet I hated Dark Places even though it combined two things I'm interested in, Satanic Panic and being the sole survivor of a massacre. I almost feel like she writes books specifically based on my interests. lol, going to be a Laker murder mystery next. You watch the dark Places movie with the miscast Charlize Theron? So bad. Anyway, looking forward to the show. Going to watch it first. Reading Zoo and going to start the Road soon.
I've watched all the episodes. Yep, I'm hooked. Nice dark mystery with interesting and flawed characters in a small town setting. Not quite True Detective, Season 1 (though better than Season 2) nor as interesting as Big Little Lies, but it's damn good. It's a great ride; I just hope the destination is half as good. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

You all weren't kidding about the pace, lol. Its slow so far, but it remains interesting. I hope it pays off in the end.
On episode 3.....I have seen grass grow faster than this story moves......at the same time, it is not bad....just waiting for it to pick up a little. Trying to pass off Eliza Scanlen (Amma) as 13 years old has been a stretch.

everyone noticing Marian keeps appearing on that bench at the top of the stairs....that stuff spooks me.
Also, why does the music teacher (Kirk Lacey) keep bolting out of scenes when Camille shows up? I know he was one of the high school football players in the flashbacks....not sure how it ties together yet.

if youre assuming Camille is the mother to Amma, then...... _________________ "Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones." - KB

could be.....after you mentioned, I recall him jerking his hand away from Amma when she tried to flirt with him at practice

I'm hearing a lot of good things about this show. Is it basically the book being played out on in a HBO series format?
I read the book when it came out and really enjoyed it, although it was my least favorite of Flynn's 3, which says a lot about her quality of work.
It's very disappointing that Dark Places didn't get the same care by film makers as Gone Girl and Sharp Objects. The movie didn't capture none of the despair, darkness and suspense of the book.

Well, that was quite the series. While some say it is slow, I was always intrigued as it was such a tasty slow.
For those who go the whole route, go the whole route--be sure to watch the credits ALL the way through. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

thanks...I did not originally, then went back and fast forwarded to end to watch....big curve ball the last couple minutes. I would have been pleased if Conrad Grayson would have been taken out in some manner before it ended.
The dialog between the two chaps discussing this amazing series perfectly summarizes my sentiments on this--though if you have not watched the series, do not watch this. Sharp Objects really deserves best everything with brilliant acting/directing/cinematography/screenplay/editing/music.
