Oh, we dont have our 2020 pick. It belongs to Philly.

Our 2nd rounder belongs to Philly.

Our 2020 1st rounder it's still ours.

So we have, IIRC, for the next years:

2020 - 1st Rounder
2021 - 1st Rounder
2023 - 1st Rounder (with the possibility of being swapped for the Pelicans 1st rounder)
2023 - 2nd Rounder
2024 - 2nd Rounder
2025 - 1st Rounder (with the possibility of the Pelicans choosing this one and giving our 2024 1st Rounder back)
2025 - 2nd Rounder

It's not THAT bad. Lots of room to operate.
And I trust our scouting department 100%. They've been finding a lot of good players in the low picks

And it's gonna be less bad when we have better records than the Pels during the swap years.

The 2021 1st rounder is the one LAL has to absolutely nail. Heavy talent at the top, which means good talent slips.

Draft position is everything when you have an elite scouting, so why throw away picks, you know what I mean?

So,
2018: Mikal Bridges, Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Miles Bridges, Michael Porter Jr

For me in that given draft, it's a tossup between SGA and Mikal. MPJ had his 2nd back surgery that summer.

2014: Spencer Dinwiddie, Jerami Grant, Nikola Jokic, Dwight Powell
2013 #57: Robert Covington, Dwayne Dedmon, Dellavadova, Seth Curry,
2013 #30: Allen Crabbe, James Ennis

Assuming LAL maximized their scouting talent to even get the 2nd best players out of these drafts, that's a MASSIVE haul.

Understood. But we can't bat 100% and get the best prospects (and keep them, and with Magic we would have traded off these guys for no good reason) each time. My point was that on paper, Nash made some sense (though I thought it was a steep price for such an old player).

AD is different. 26 entering his prime. Salaries are lined up for us to go big game hunting in 2021 too. I miss our kids but I can totally understand AD.

From 2014- 2018, I felt that LAL batted pretty much 100%. They even drafted players I didn't specifically like, and those guys are successful.

And so what if we would have traded them? That means we would have had extra assets, so if LAL was trading for AD, the whole house didn't have to go with them.

Unfortunately, LAL's training staff wasn't up to snuff when it came to Nash. Paid the price for it, and imho, heavily. If the training staff can't handle that kind of nerve injury, why not keep the picks?

We traded a bunch of guys for literally cap space. I think a bunch of the 2014-18 guys would have been traded for...cap space again.

At least there's the option to trade rookie contracts for picks. But LAL went a simpler route.

I think LAL is lucky if they get Dwight at the same salary. Think he'd want a raise.

Bertans is like a $20mil player.

Harkless would be the guy.

And THT, Green, Kuzma, etc are going to do better?

Chicago needs all the help they can get just to get people in the seats. Plus, they paid him AND he's got the work ethic. They just have a terrible coach. Doesn't mean Chicago hates LaVine enough to trade him away.

Lavine is on a decent contract and the Bulls are gonna be under the cap. No point in trading him for a package of lesser players and late picks. Bulls would want a lottery pick at a minimum.

Sure they are not but so is LaVine. No Chicago fan ever said let me shell out $100 to go watch LaVine play

They have new basketball ops guy so we don't know what his plans are

Good move.

Trading Svi AND the 2021 2nd rounder for Reggie Bullock wasn't a good move.

Was hoping New York was gonna buy out Harkless. A glue guy who’s tough on defense and who doesn’t care about how many shots he gets.

Compliments superstars so well like Lebron and AD, Kawhi and PG ( Clippers really felt his absence on the defensive end after Marcus’ underwhelming performances) , and Damian Lillard. ( much worse situation than the Clippers because Portland doesn’t have a Kawhi)

It might be hard to steal Moe from the Knicks because he’s from Queens and he’s actually happy to be there.

Plus Dolan might max him out this summer
