^Right, but unless you find a guy that does close to DG things, LAL loses another defensive wing.

Rose and Snell don't fix that.

I've yet to see any discussion of Wes Matthews. If he would take the minimum again, it's a no brainer. But will he be seeking a pay raise?

I think he will get BAE (3-4m) or maybe someones MLE (8-9m) on a one year deal.

For some reason I could see him going to Houston.

I like him but i also feel like we already have him in KCP and Green.

I think we need a ball handler/shot creator and/or a bigger wing like Ariza/Crowder type of player.

Ariza is washed and Crowder is trending towards full MLE money. Miami would likely give him and Dragic large one year deals anyway.

Agree Wes isn't the main need this summer but if we could get him let's say for exception, it makes Green/KCP expendable via trade.

So tired of hearing about Burks and Burke.
Would they get above Min?

Maybe lack of cap spike gives us a chance to get these guys on minimum deals I hope.

Interesting point.
With the cap down, doesn't all the exceptions and maxes also adjust lower?

It all depends on what the league/players decide to do. They could keep the salary cap artificially high, and then just ding everyone at the end of the season. Or they could keep the cap low, which will disproportionally affect free agents this year.

They haven't announced their plans yet.

Ah.
Thanks AV

Just a note: Klutch has Zo as a SG? Interesting.
That is all.

i think we would be lucky to be able to keep howard and morris with our exceptions.

if howard goes for $, other centers would be bayne (6-10, 260lb, 35% 3p) and marc gasol (6-11, 255lb, 38.5% 3p)

any other c can shoot 3s?

I don't think we could afford Baynes, but I would certainly take him if Dwight bolts and he is willing to take what we can give him.

I have a really hard time seeing the Lakers trade Kuzma unless they crap out of the playoffs this year.

The real Q to me is what does Green + 2020 1st get you?

I dont think Lakers will trade Kuzma, Caruso or THT.

D.Rose and Toni Snell?

Green and a 1st round pick can fetch more then Rose and Snell, look at Green’s Impact in the playoffs he’s in the same category as AD and LeBron in terms of making a Impact.

Then why trade him?

We don’t have to but fans want to use him as a trade chip to get us a ball handling PG or a wing defender.

So who steps into DG's role?

I'm for moving DG if it makes the team better. The guy is too inconsistent with his shot for me, but if he's doing a lot of glue-guy-whose-value-can't-be-seen-in-the-boxscore stuff, we don't want to lose that for a lesser impact elsewhere.

Agree with you, and yes Green does stuff that doesn’t show up in the boxscore like that game saving possession in Game 2 or the timely offensive rebounds he gets from time to time, I understand the criticism of Green but he has stepped up in the playoffs, even DB noted that.

Unless you get a legit 3rd option, guys like Green will always be more valuable in the playoff. We are on win now mode, playoff is more important than regular season. Green is a proven playoff performer. A winner will always have the experience to figure it out when it matter. Look at KCP when he was trying to nail that shot in the last minute. Green was way more open. Green would have mad the right play.

Who wouldn't want him at above the veteran min? BAE? Maybe half an MLE? Denver could do that...

I just don't know if Dwight works for every team. Not sure being on such a young team will work for him. Dwight truly found a place that saved his NBA career. Otherwise he was about to be China bound.

LeGM or KlawGM?

I say LeGM is better. At least he talks to his teammates.

Let’s use Klutch and bring Clarkson back on a full MLE deal.

His scoring off the bench would be welcomed.

Credit to Pelinka for publicly involving Lebron and AD in free agency. We don’t hear the LeGM hate that much these days.

Boogie Cousins.
On a vet Min.

Dwight + Boogie + Cacok

(Plus AD and Morris at times)

Always liked Clarkson even when he was here and we were losing, he always tried his best to keep his competitive with his offense and I really appreciated that, if Marcus Morris doesn’t take the MLE I’m down to give Clarkson the MLE.

If the Lakers win and don’t wanna make big trades:

FA:
* MLE = Jordan Clarkson
* BAE = Markieff Morris

DRAFT (#28):
Rd 1 - SG - Desmond Bane

Bradley / Caruso / Rondo

Green / Clarkson / Bane

James / Pope / Tucker

Davis / Kuzma / Morris / Dudley

Howard / Cousins

Plus two ways with Cacok + Kostas or someone new.

He can prob get more money elsewhere. He was a top off the bench guy this year and stepped up big for Jazz.

We need someone who can score/initiate + a bigger defensive wing

I like Cousins, I just don’t know if he can stay healthy... plus I think the Wizards and Clippers will go after him, also what do you think about Kyle O’Quinn? C who can shoot 3s and we can probably get him for the vet minimum.

Remember. Vogel's team is built on an ethos of defense and hustle.

Does Clarkson fit into that mold?

I get that he would bring some offensive scoring, and his being Klutch and a former Laker could help. I also question the same about Dinwiddie, b/c it would take several trade assets to get him. So of the two, Clarkson probably the more palatable.

Gasol is showing his age, but he can still hit threes and is a force defensively. However, he has been talking about playing in Spain, so it would probably take a sizeable offer to land him.

In theory Gasol totally works. He's lost a step or two (and already started off with losing a step or two ).

But I'm still focused on perimeter help first.

Perimeter defender
Ball Handling Guard
Big

that top 2 should be the priority

We can get Moe Harkless to shore up our perimeter defense in FA but not likely we can do the same for a ball handling PG because the market for a PG is thin, we will have to make a trade for a ball handling PG, really wish we could get CP3 but it’s very unlikely.
