Why are the clips constantly trying to sign the same guys we go for or hunt our sloppy seconds? It’s so pathetic

That worked well for them last year. They were geared up their team as the best counter for us so well that they totally neglected other teams and lost to Denver.

Anyone seen Batum play these days?
Can he still defend and playmake? If so that's a no brainer.

I think the minutes are there for Markieff because I really don’t think we will aggressively load manage Lebron + AD in the season.

Right now we’re looking at 2 bigs - Montrez + Marc. Marc is only going to get 15-20 mins. Harrell will play some 5 for us but he’s thrive with Markieff next to him to help with spacing. I really think they’ll limit AD at the 5 during regular seasonas much as possible and save that for the playoffs. We had multiple AD may be hurt moments and I think they should be at least 2 deep at big centers and 2 deep at PF (not including AD)

To me - Markieff is probably their number one focus right now. I see the minutes for him as the first or second big off the bench depending on matchup.

The free-agent Battle of LA has been a constant in this transactional frenzy. It’s clearly not over after Toronto signed Aron Baynes to replace Marc Gasol and fell as a viable Morris option

How much can the Clippers offer?

Just a tad more - the BAE (3.6M).
We can offer a little more than the vet min he made last year.
Difference is about half a million, I think.

We are definitely in the running, but he said he wanted to play with his bro. So not sure if we win this one.

We can offer him a 20% raise. Like 2.7M or something

I think we should expect to lose him to the Clips. They have more money to offer 3.6> 2,7 and they also have his brother who he has said he wants to play with. They have also shown a willingness to overpay even non championship role players (Look at the contracts of Pat Bev, Lou, and now Morris). So I think Kieff will make the financial based move and go to the Clips. He has his ring, and now needs to find a location where he will get paid more now and a year from now.

I don't think finances are that big of a deal as they share bank accounts.

That's interesting. Those 2 brothers sure love and trust each other.

Joint bank account or not , finances are always a big deal.

Kieff has earned 45 million in career earnings in his 9 seasons in the league while Marcus has netted 57 million.

Sure for our selfish reasons we can wish for them to take less for the better of our team but realistically that’s not gonna be an option in their minds.

The Morris twins are 31 and they do not rely on their athleticism as much so they got at least 4-5 seasons left imo.
Expecting them to take a discount from here on out is probably not gonna happen since they know they are reliable veterans.
With Marcus obviously already locked up.

Marcus earned his first big payday last season with the Knicks because of his much improved three point sharp shooting with the Celtics.
Leading to his new Clippers deal.

Kieff just got done winning a Championship with his three point sharpshooting and solid defense. You already know he feels his value is much higher than the vet min leading to why he probably dumped Klutch sports. Watching KCP and Trezz get paid while he’s still sitting duck without a new deal.

Not feeling great about his return.

thats why having guys like Montrez/Dennis will help them during regular season.

let AD/Montrez/Dennis and others eat during regular season while Lebron is in game load managing

Same would be true for Kief IIRC.

Hopefully they both end up on the roster.

Pelinka said in the press conference last week they want Kuzma to play more of the 3 this year. That would open up more minutes for Morris.

Are the Clippers going after Kief as a moral victory against us? They still need a point. They should be looking at point guards. Kawhi will be not be happy if he doesn't get a point.

Morris is ideal for many reasons, mainly because of how he fit in during the playoffs- but it isn't the end all if he chooses the Clippers. I repeat that there is more than a descent chance that someone else becomes available before now and the start of the season.

Pelinka will most assuredly try and find a third ball handler behind Schroder and Caruso, that is a given.

Reggie Jackson, who would give us yet another 3pt threat (averaged 2 makes a game over the last two seasons at a 38% clip), Shaquille Harris (has good size at 6ft 7 and is a more traditional PG) or a more seasoned guy like Shabazz Napier would be the way to go.

Minutes will most assuredly effect what third big man we bring in. I personally would take a flyer on DC again, simply because we could wait him out with the signing of Gasol- but if he is wanting a true chance sooner rather than later, I could see him going elsewhere this time around. Alex Lin would seem to be the likelier target if AD can't convince DeMarcus to take another chance here.

My guess is they would wait out a Morris replacement if they lose him and focus on the big man and ball handler instead.........

Hopeful 2020-21 Roster:

PF Anthony Davis
SF LeBron James
C Marc Gasol
SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
PG Dennis Schroder

PF Markieff Morris*
SF Kyle Kuzma
C Montrezl Harrell
SG Wesley Matthews
PG Alex Caruso

PF Devontae Cacok (2-way)
SF Alfonzo McKinnie
C DeMarcus Cousins*
SG Talen Hunter-Tucker
PG Shaquille Harris*

According to Mark Medina at USA Today Dwight was asking for a larger role this year (more touches in the post?) while the Lakers only wanted only to use him in situational matchups like last year.

I doubt dennis starts.
We need him to play make on the 2nd unit.
That 2nd unit without him has no playmakers.

Hmmm, and what role does he think that he is going to have in Philadelphia? I like Howard for what he did with us last year but I don't think he will have any success in Philadelphia with Doc Rivers.

Lakers are creating new markets for these "washed " players lol. If they bring back Pau or Dudz, they would essentially create the "retired" market for morale purposes.

Dwight could have a big role because Embiid gets hurt all the time.

Danny’s defense and overall value is still much better.

Despite DG’s offensive shortcomings this past season he still started every game on a Championship team.

Batum didn’t start a single game last season on the Charlotte Hornets lol.

Washed.

Somebody pointed out that the Clippers are awfully close to the hard cap. I think they're in the same situation as us. Anything more than the minimum and thay can only carry 14 on the roster.

If we only start with 14 players:

• Sign Kief

• Sign Dudley

• Sign Batum/Ariza or Dedmon or Korver

I imagine McKinnie gets dealt at deadline (potentially with Kuzma)?

James / Schroder

KCP / Caruso / THT

Matthews / Kuzma / McKinnie

AD / Morris / Dudley

Gasol / Harrell

+ Korver/Dedmon/Batum/Ariza

+ Cacok on Two Way

+ Give Tres Tinkle the other Two Way
