Not all Morey’s fault. CP3 that sneaky devil had the handshake agreement with the previous owner Les Alexander. Then the new one honored it
Remember CP3 opted into his option year to let the Rockets trade for him otherwise they have to gut players to free up cap space

I think he would be a good fit but only if the Lakers struck out on other options and obviously weighing the $$.

If Kawhi and Uncle Dennis wanted to get back at the media after some of the hit pieces that painted them both in an incredibly unflattering light last year, no better way than to leak "Clippers, Clippers, Clippers" all year so that the Clippers and media Windbags believe it, then pull the rug out from all of them at the end by signing with the Lakers and making the entire hoops media look like idiots.
Most of the media would be pissed at Kawhi and his Uncle, but neither Kawhi nor Uncle Dennis needs the media in the long run the way players who care about the media and their agents do. Kawhi can let his play do the talking and Uncle Dennis has no one else he needs to worry about.
And the Clippers couldn't complain because they'd be admitting to tampering otherwise.
It would be a beautiful sight watching Woj, et al scramble to try to explain it away. |

The thoughts of some is that CP3 wouldn't have okayed the trade to Houston without a silent nod from Houston that they would take care of him on his next contract.
If so, Houston could have doublecrossed him and not given the new contract. CP3 might have still been President of the union, so Houston would have been trashed for not keeping their part of the deal. |

He’s getting a pass because:
1) The only way to get CP3 to decline his mega extension with the Clippers was to promise him a wink wink contract. You can’t promise and walk away if you plan on signing free agents later.
2) The contract and the CP3 acquisition in general were the teams shot at trying to win. That’s what they should be doing in Harden’s prime.
3) Even if the contract were smaller or they let CP3 walk they wouldn’t have had the $$ to bring a replacement that would give them a better shot at winning. See #2 above.

| I would be excited if we signed DLO hear me out, when he got drafted by the Lakers we were a horrible team, last year he tasted real success and he will be teaming up with AD and LeBron and will already know what winning is, sign me up if DLO coming to the Lakers is a possibility. |

Exactly. Right now the team is trying to convince Jimmy Butler to opt-in and get traded like CP3 did. Gotta keep your rep intact when you promise players you will take care of them, unless your last name is Ainge. |

It's not just LA fans watching this coverage after all, so you gotta consider that too. If it's Lakers vs the field in terms of media coverage then it pays for them to report slightly negatively on the Lakers because it will mollify the rest of the NBA fans.
Imagine if ESPN was ringing with stories reporting that Lakers have a chance (even just a chance) of getting everything they want. (bleep) would become bedlam on the internet. Last time that happened league vetoed our trade. I can see how this type of reporting might actually be favorable to the Lakers in some backwards way.
Media is a f*cking joke though, it's really disappointing. |
