If anything would incentivize Durant to join the Lakers (and I've been skeptical) it would be wanting to get the best chance possible to beat the Warriors. Do the Lakers offer the best chance at that? Right now the other LA team is playing better and ready to give Durant 100% credit for everything.

It is still early and the Clips do have a better record and look more cohesive. No reason we cant vastly improve by the end of the year.

there is always an adjustment period, when acquiring a superstar and new pieces. i.e the cavs and heat with Lebron.
we also have more room for organic growth throughout the season. young player with good work ethic tend to improve. moreover, zo and Ingram are adjusting to new roles, and will improve as they adjust. kuz is shooting like 29% from three, which you would think will improve. zo, Ingram, kuz, hart +svi, bonga, and mo next year vs sga and Jerome Robinson
the lakers will continue to get better as they figure things out
the lakers 13 games in, are a much better team than the lakers in game 1
relatedly the lakers 20 more games into the season, will be better than the laker team now
the clippers are playing well now, but its a loooong season

I know this is a Lakers message board and we are sometimes biased towards our favorite team but there are some very obvious signs that are pointing towards KD joining LA next offseason whether you like it or not.
Throughout all of last year, there were many signs that pointed at LBJ joining LA that some choose to ignore and others chose to digest. It ended up happening. Some of the biggest clues came from people who did not have a national spotlight. Us message board browsers picked up on those clues and pieced them together.
This year the KD to LAL rumors are heating up just like LBJ to LA was last year. Take a look at some clues that can't all be coincidence can they?
-Rumors of LBJ texting KD to join him in free agency. People thought it was for 2018 but I think many of us realized this was actually for 2019.
-Sept 1st, Deng is waived to create approximately ~38.2M in cap space
-Rumors of KD and LBJ working together along with Kuz on a documentary. At that time, the rumors were that KD and Lebron's people connected and the plan was set in motion. This was also captured by an insider that goes by reddit user Steezy111 who worked in the same building.

Our FO and scouting department are both some of the NBA's best. Its a GREAT time right now. I am expecting two big moves this off season and have a strong feeling KD will be a Laker. In a few years, we will surpass those douche bag leprechauns and have the most championships.

SAS was right about LeBron and his sources on him coming to the Lakers, there is no doubt that he is right and we are in fact the favorites to sign KD, he is credible when it comes to Free-Agents deciding there destination, not so much about trade talks though.

Agreed on Lakers being his choice, I also think the NBA and Silver are gonna want to do a favor for the Lakers.. considering.. how big of a Impact the CP3 veto had on the Lakers franchise, Durant knows going to the Clippers or New York will be a dumb move considering that no one cares about those teams, he will be more famous then Kobe if he leads us to a dynasty.

Just so I have the last few pages right, Jerry West, an all time executive, is being given too much credit for KD coming to the Warriors, but Magic, who admittedly has done virtually nothing noteworthy basketball related off the court, was well, magical, in securing the services of Lebron James. Not saying anything about future events, but it is hard to give credence to scenarios based on these twin pillars of myopia.
