i am in the same boat. He will be making 15.3m and could net a guy making 20m

dont know who that guy is tough.

Can’t expect to get a Impact player without including a guy like Kuzma in the trade, no one is gonna value Green enough to give up a contributor.

Our biggest trade assets are Kuz, THT, and our first round picks.

Doubt any of them is all that valuable.

Our picks will be low.

THT hasn't played a single game in the NBA yet.

Kuz has been on a downward trend since his rookie year and he's coming off his rookie contract, which is the main thing that made him attractive.

It's hard to imagine that a team couldn't get a better deal for an impact player than what we could offer.

I doubt Rondo will opt out. At least he'll be on a cheap, expiring contract.

9. Rondo (PO)
10. THT

11. Dwight (Free agent who desesrves return)
12. Dudley (Free Agent who might return)
13. Q.Cook (unguaranteed contract)
14. Waiters (Might play his way to a roster spot next year)
15. JR

Hopefully Rondo opts out. I dont see McGee/Bradley/KCP opting out with the market uncertainity. Bradley/Cook/1st used in a 3 for 1 trade to open roster spots.

Rondo - out
Dudz - out
Cook - out
McGee - out

Got to see what Avery/ tht/ 2020 1st brings us

Why McGee out? He’s been solid in his role.

I am assuming d12/cousins/ young guy as center rotation

Cousins hasn’t played in 3 years, the only thing we can count on is him being hurt.

That would be an overpay, I think 3 years at $3-4 mil per would be fair.

I can't imagine Kuz would sign for that little. If that's the most we offer, he'll see the handwriting on the wall and move on. He just needs one team to think he has untapped potential, and there probably is at least one team that will offer him $10 million a year on a hope that he turns into the player his rookie season promised.

So Kuz should be making Quinn Cook money?

Kyle just turned 25 a week ago. Next contract negotiations he will be within eyeshot of 26.

If he has another ok year 4/$32M should be more than enough.

I actually think 3rd option is the ideal role for him if he wants to win championships.
But I could see him going for the bag instead. Gotta make that paper paper.

Evan Fournier would be such a good piece here. Good shooter 6”7 has good playmaking skills.

I like him but he has 17.1m PO. with money tight I doubt he opts out.

41% on 6.6 3pt attempts, not bad

Yes, but with an eye on cap space flexibility for the following summer. Might only be offering 1 year or 2 year with 2nd year TO

We’re not trading DG. & doubtful on Kuz unless we can get a LaVine type.

In a trade we will be able to offer

THT
2020 1st
Exp K (Bradley,Cook, Rondo)

That’s about 14M in salary. Would be able to take back up to 19M.

Possible targets

DeRozan (if he opts out/bad fit)
Ibaka (S&T)
Gallon(S&T)
Randle (bad fit)
Nance
Danwiddie
DRose
Malik Monk
Taurean Prince

LaVine/B.Hield would require Kuz+

What would they be planning to do with cap flexibility the next summer? They are going to have $40m available when James retires.

Lakers need to be thinking post-James and how to keep Davis happy.

Even the above trade suggestion of moving Green, Bradley, THT, 2020 1st for who? Which $30m player are they trading for? Has to be a player young enough to be Davis long term cohort. Has to be good enough to be a legitimate starting Guard with enough impact to cover the loss of depth the Lakers will have next season. And most importantly a player his team is willing to trade for expiring contracts, a prospect and a 29th pick.

Genuinely curious to see suggestions on who the Lakers should be targeting?

For all we know, Lebron will be a Laker for 5 more years. I don't think the Lakers have "a plan" for the cap flexibility. I think their idea is more along the lines, "Let's give ourselves flexibility and react to the situation and opportunities at the time."

People are just throwing out random ideas of packages we could put together that they think would interest other teams. I don't get the sense the people putting together the package ideas have any specific target in mind. It's just a way of passing time.

I think he'd be a fool not to go the most money. His career could go in any direction up and down. For all we know, this may end up being his first and last chance for a big paycheck.

Forget about post LeBron. Concentrate on winning championship with bron + ad 1st

Davis by himself hasn't won anything to make him the focus. Focus has to be both LeBron + AD

Yeah, way too early to be trying to figure it out right now imo. If he stays healthy I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him play another couple years after his contract to try and play with his son whether that's on the Lakers or somewhere else who knows. There will also be random fire sales or disgruntled players from now until then that instantly changes the entire possible landscape as well. All I know is right now, this season we're at worst as good as any other team in the NBA. I'll take that...

There’s no secret the lakers are targeting Giannis

Potential trade targets are listed above. Don’t see many stars on the move in our price range

Taking a look at future free agency & wow. 2022 will be the most accomplished free agency class ever

Kemba* 32
KD 33*
KYRIE 30*
Lavine 27
Jokic 27
Griffin 33
Curry 34
Harden 32*
Westbrook 33*
Butler 32*
Wall 31*

*= PO

LaVine in 2022 would be a lot more realistic target than Giannis in 2021

Kemba, undersized
KD, torn Achilles
Kyrie, injury prone
LaVine, injury prone
Jokic... maybe a good bet if he keeps his weight down
Griffin, injury prone
Curry, injury prone... old
Harden... probably still good
Westbrook... only good if still at full speed
Butler... aging and injury prone
Wall... torn Achilles

I like most of these players but who would spend big money in a post CoVid NBA on these guys?

Maybe Jokic or Harden... but it would be crazy to pay anyone else 40 million per season.
