Because she’s demonstrated that she’s literally incapable of doing things any other way.

The only people she has hired are Magic and Pelinka, so it’s not that big of a sample size.

And Rambis. The pattern is there, only without exceptions.

It’s not just that. Linda Rambis is her closest confidant advising her on b-ball decisions. LINDA FREAKING RAMBIS, whose entire credentials are being married to Kurt Rambis, whose credentials include being nothing but a train wreck as a coach and front office person.

Jeanie has gone on record saying only four people can run the Lakers: Magic, Phil, Kobe and Jerry West. Ironically, she’s refused to bring in the one person out of those four that has the credentials to be successful reportedly because he publicly questioned her romantic relationship with Phil.

This tells you all you need to know about her obsessive insular worldview when it comes to running the franchise.

Linda Rambis has been with the Lakers a long time. It’s not like she just went out and hired her friend.

seems high for Kemba, and really high for Cousins

With respect to Walker, I think this list reflects that CBS Sports does not rate Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler as highly as a lot of people on this board do. A lot of people here would rate Klay and Butler over Kemba. I agree that Klay is commonly overrated, but I would still take him over Kemba. I find it odd to think of freaking Cousins as ranking above Butler, but on the other hand I wouldn't want Butler on the team, so maybe that's a fair rating.

We could do this, in the following order:

1. Trade Hart for a future 2nd.

2. Sign max free agent, like Kyrie.

3. Trade Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Wagner and Bonga for Beal.

4. Keep the pick. Only because the pick's salary counts as zero for salary matching purposes in a trade. So, we are better off sending players over to Washington instead and the 11th pick + all those players may be a bit much for Beal.

Based on the reports I’m not if it was her or Magic behind Rambis.

I don't think that's enough for the Wiz to trade him.

What do you think the Wizards would value more: Ingram or the 11th pick?

BI, but not until there is some more certainty about the blood clot, which won't be resolved by this summer.

If that is the case, it puts us in a tough situation. Maybe some team will take a flier on him still. In the above trade scenario, the Wizards still get two good young prospects in Ball and Kuzma. Plus, Wagner and Bonga.

Assuming we sign Kyrie, the max we should for Beal is Lonzo, Ingram, 11th. Even that is way too rich when looking at it from a long term POV.

I would make that trade for Beal in a heartbeat. I don't know if the Wizards would or if they are even interested in trading him in the first place.

Lonzo/BI/11th is way too much.

I don't think the Wiz want to trade Beal; they're trying to build around him.

The Wiz got screwed with the Wall contract. It was a bad contract when he was healthy. Now it's a killer that he's injured. That team is not going to be great for a couple of years. The question is: do they have faith in John Wall being healthy in 2 years? Do they have faith in a John Wall and Beal back court to do great things?

Sheesh. Ideally, they would trade Beal for good young prospects. Try to tank. And then get rid of wall (if possible by trade) down the line and try to develop kids the next 3 years. But then again, they need to put butts in the seats. Who knows what they are thinking on the business side of things.

I see people offering Kuzma, BI, Zo. IMO, Kuzma has substantially more value than 11.

I agree it's way too much like I said, but I'm also speaking from he FO office POV who are going to do whatever they can to get LeBron closer to a ring while they can. Jeanie has to be loving the fact that she feels only a player or 2 away. As bad as things feel got us, in her eyes, this is the closest they've been to relevance she her daddy died. She'll instruct RP to go all in if LBJ and his group tell Jeanie they can do it with that core.

Total fantasy... but rather than trade all the young guys, I'd rather trade LeBron for Beal + their pick. This is only if we are 100% signing Kawhi.

Lonzo / Payton (MLE) / Bonga
Beal / Ingram / Hart
Kawhi / Bullock
Kuzma / ??
?? / McGee / Wagner
+ 2 lottery picks.

14m-15m of cap-space left after paying all the guys listed at their cap-holds... except the picks and McGee (unsure of what salary he'll get, won't be a minimum).

Lebron allegedly has political aspirations of some sort after his NBA career is done. The Hollywood thing doesn't seem to be working out. So he might as well get started building the connections he'll need in the swamp.

You have to look at it from the Wizards' perspective.

Beal is a two-time All-Star, 20+ PPG scorer and good shooter. Perfect kind of player to pair with LeBron.

You're asking them to trade that for A.) Lonzo, who can't stay on the court, has off-the-court drama, and has been mediocre offensively and B.) Ingram, who really excelled down the stretch, but has injury question marks of his own and C.) A #11 pick that probably won't net you a star.

You know, this is the greatest damage that Magic did to this franchise. Two years ago, we proudly talk about our core of young talent. Now after all the forms possible of devaluate them, now people are talking about this Combo of the Day offers, this including even sundaes. Gimme a break.

Oh I am. I don't think they're trading Beal. I've said that consistently.

But Lakers would be mortgaging everything if they did that trade. And I agree that BI isn't moving the needle for them b/c of his blood clot concerns. I hope we can do a Steph Curry 1st Contract sort of deal with BI.

Real question: if his current play & health hold up, when should the Lakers consider bringing D'Lo back?

Pelinka would have to make up with Mintz. Not happening.

We would have to throw him the max and hope that Brooklyn is too busy chasing KD and they miss their window. If they match the offer then we did right by DLO.

Do you think it would be worth it for the Lakers to attempt this? Our options are looking remarkably slimmer than what many on this forum think..

He's not worth max money.

Counterpount: he's 23 and could outplay a 25% max contract with continued improvement.

Right. People assume "max" money is the same thing.

There are several tiers, and he would be on the lowest tier and improving every year.

We are likely going to throw 32m/year to a 29 or 30 year old Kemba/Jimmy. Think about that for a minute.

If it meant losing our cap space, then I'd rather punt to 2020 instead of giving our max amount to Russell. I view Russell like I view Kemba, he's fine, a good All-Star level talent, but not someone I'd want the Lakers to commit to for 4 years.

You do know they can't pay BI and afford another max contract in 2020, right?
