It's still BPA regardless of position. If the Lakers are #1, draft Zion, then use him to get the player you want at least.

But I'm not about building around LeBron anyway.

Personally, I'd rather keep Zion and get Kemba or Kawhi, pray that Brook Lopez takes full MLE, Seth Curry takes the room exception, and then just roll.

If Lakers took Zion and traded him or the pick I’d never root for this team again. At least not until it’s stripper from the top down. (bleep) that. Trading Zion would be the most idiotic move in NBA history unless it is going to guarantee you rings. Davis does no such thing.

Now you know why I'm okay with Kemba and Kawhi with Zion and just rolling with it.

If you draft Zion and then trade for AD, you're deliberately picking up a non-fit through free agency and may have to force LeBron to PG just to make it work.

Both teams won. I think Trae is happy in ATL so he's succeeding. I think Doncic is happy in Dallas so he's succeeding. Both fit their team's styles of play.

Atlanta has 2 lottery picks right next to each other. Doncic is in a great position because he has Zinger, coming off of injury, but Atlanta is the Draft Twitter team, stacked picks and getting the guys we want.

That was definitely a trade where I thought ATL "lost," but it was still a trade that made a lot of sense for them. I think both guys will be studs on offense, but Trae is always going to be bad bad on defense while Luka can develop into a net positive defender if he puts in the work. But if ATL comes out of this draft with Zion and Jarrett Culver, that trade really does work for both teams.

Please sign up sooner than later. Every year, I spend the last 48 hours trying to remind everyone to join because we only have 10-15 people signed up.....then 20-30 people sign up in the last 24 hours. The more people that participate, the more competitive it becomes, and the more fun everyone has.

Oh, I definitely agree that Doncic is the better player. But this is also where I think that both guys are in the best environments for them to succeed. If Doncic is in ATL, that doesn't mean I think he plays defense, ya know?

Atlanta can be really stacked. I'm not even a fan of John Collins. But, the idea that they could get De'Andre Hunter, Jaxson Hayes, Cam Johnson, Carsen Edwards, and Matisse Thybulle? Like that's an actual possibility?

Woof. It's a stacked AAU team at that point.

So Zion, Hunter, Johnson, and Edwards. That would be an absurd haul.

odds are not high..but definitely a lot better than PowerBall odds....I think in his example, it was little more likely by picking up Hayes and Hunter instead of Zion. I also think it is unlikely a guy like Thybulle will slip past all those contenders in the back end of the 1st....but it is possible.

Hayes underwent an MRI to reveal the extent of his knee injury, and on Sunday evening, Texas head coach Shaka Smart told reporters that the Longhorns star big man is set to see a specialist for further evaluation on Monday. Smart expects the team to know more about the extent of the injury later in the week.

Smart did note that the injury under evaluation isn’t a “worst-case scenario” for Hayes, but he also added that he doesn’t think Hayes will play again this season.

I’m sure he won’t play the rest of the season but it Doesn’t sound like a long term injury.

they are NIT this year, so I agree with you he will not be playing. I hope it does not keep him out of the combine and team workouts.

Matisse Thybulle (whom I notice is on Mike's list of desired prospects) seems like the type of player we can use. A defensive ace.

https://www.thestepien.com/2019/01/06/draft-notes-understanding-matisse-thybulle/

A backcourt of Lonzo and him would be interesting. Assuming at least one of them can shoot 3s at a high enough clip.

you are saying AD is a non-fit? how exactly is that? outside of being an efficient 28ppg player he provides rim protection, rebounding, defense.

And in a potential Zion trade we can keep our young core. Probably have to give up Ingram to help make the salaries match but then we can force them to give us their #1 pick too:
Zion+BI+KCP (S&T) for AD and Pelicans #1 pick (Hunter)

I'll roll with:

Ball
Kawhi
Hunter (Pelicans #1 pick)
Lebron
AD
Kuz 6th man

all day everyday over:

Ball
Kawhi
Zion
BI
Lebron
Kuz 6th man

Atleast with AD you are getting a known product... a top tier elite talent whose only 25. There's a chance Zions game doesnt translate as hyped when in the NBA playing against full grown elite athletes.

Givony’s mock draft at DraftExpress has us taking Romeo Langford with the 10th pick, I highly doubt we are picking at the 10th spot, I think at worse we will be at the 6th spot.

if we dont shut down Lebron completely we can definitely stay at 10 or drop even later. He's overdue for some hero games where he can pull out a few unwanted wins.

There is no way LeBron is gonna play hero play, he wants us to have a chance at Zion, he even mentioned him after we lost to the Knicks... he isn’t gonna push his body in these games trust me.

IF he didnt produce hero ball when we needed the W, he sure as heck isnt going to produce it when hes going at a reduced effort level.

If we got Zion, can we even pair him with Lebron or do you trade Lebron and give Zion the keys to the franchise?

A lineup of ...

Kemba
Lonzo
BI
Zion
Vucevic

Would be electric to watch and excellent on defense.

You keep the LFT but still build around Zion.
