They said the 2011 draft was weak with only 1-2 potential stars. Kawhi was #15.

Both are very high on Cameron Reddish...

Nice. Im high on him too. I think he can be anywhere from Joe Johnson to a Klay type player.

DG was the top point guard prospect going into college, it's hard to say this is only a "3 man" draft in a situation like that where he injured out early in the season....based on previous scouting reports and the general view of scouts on DG he could actually be one of the players in this draft who really excels in the NBA

While I would love for the Lakers to draft Garland, I doubt he got a promise from the Lakers this soon in the process. The FO will explore all trade options before giving someone / someone's agent a promise. Making that kind of a promise then trading the pick (to get AD or another impact player) would earn the Lakers a lot of bad blood from agents going forward.

And I doubt the promise came from the Knicks as they already have Mudiay, DSJ and Ntilikina on the roster with a possibility of signing Kyrie on the horizon. Unless they already have a trade partner lined up for Mudiay, DSJ and Ntilikina I doubt they would have made the promise. And a backcourt of Kyrie and Garland is a little small for the modern NBA. No guarantee Kyrie is going to the Knicks but it has been widely thought to be the #1 destination for Kyrie for a while.

A promise (if he got one) most likely came from Chicago or Phoenix.

Best stroke in the draft is probably Cam Reddish. In one of the videos he's working with Curry's trainer.

Draft Battle: Coby White vs. Darius Garland

I get the feeling White will be really, really good. He may not be as refined a playmaker at this point, but his size and scoring ability can’t be denied. He’ll also be much better defensively and 36% 3pt on 6.6 attempts says he’ll be a good shooter.

if we sign Kawhi and cant get any trades going for our pick and/or BI, I'd love to see a small-ball death lineup of:
Ball
Kawhi
BI
Hunter
Lebron

position-less, everyone switch on screens, everyone 6'6+, everyone except Lonzo with 7ft+ wingspan, everyone has 3 point range (Lonzo and BI need to be locked in a gym all summer until they are shooting atleast 38%)

Thanks. I like White a lot but don't know much about Garland so this helped me understand the differences. I think I still prefer White but not against either at 4.

that makes no sense to me. Why would he want to go to the Suns? Their draft position is not good ($$), they have one of the worst owners, they have a crappy owner, and he will be stuck with ball hog Booker.

I'd like the Culver backers to say things to make me feel better about his poor 3-point shooting and FT shooting and his less-than-ideal shooting form. I love the defense but I would be inclined to go in a different direction at #4.

This won't make you feel better, but guys who were damn good to excellent shooters in college like Jamal Murray, Lauri Markkanen, and Malik Monk have fall en short (at least to date) of translating their best skill to the pro game.

I say this less to support the idea of drafting Culver than to undermine the idea that drafting shooting is a plug and play proposition.

If Knicks dont draft him first.

If the Knicks draft him it means the Lakers get Barrett so....

We're screwed, right BVH?

The worst outcome ever, tbh, epak.

Can someone make a case against Rui Hachimura? IMHO, he's the safest pick at #4.

Some will knock his age. Kuzma was a junior. Rui actually has a more complete game than Kuzma. If you could draft a better version of Kuzma in this draft, could you make a case for him at 4th?

I wouldn't draft Kuzma at #4 even in this crap draft.

I think you draft Hachimura at #4 if you really love Jabari Parker.

Who knows? It's possible he isn't confident about being drafted before the #6 pick. Prior to the lottery, most drafts had him #6 - #15. So he took the guarantee over the unknown.

Garland or Hunter

Both provide needs for our team and would work well with Bron

Let’s say we take garland at 4 do we pair him with Lonzo or do we trade Lonzo to bulls or suns and take another shooter like white or hunter if he falls past Cleveland. Coming out of the draft with white and garland as shooters could be huge for us. With both Lebron and Ingram able to run the offense white and garland could work. Could be interesting option and a way to upgrade the shooting around Lebron and Ingram

No. Zo is better than anyone in this draft not named Zion. Stop trying to trade Zo for a draft pick. Garland meshes perfectly w Zo in the backcourt

I'd also add that Garland is in no way ready to start on a team that has any aspirations of being good next season. If you really think there's a future logjam at the position, trade Lonzo next summer after seeing what Garland can do up close for a season.

Still looks very easy to me regarding what the Lakers should do....
If keep pick and go small -- Garland. He meshes seemlessly with ZO.
If keep pick and go positionless basketball -- Hunter. He is the most skilled 2 way player and ready to contribute now.
If trade pick -- hopefully for AD or Beal??
