Kyrie's pedigree entering college was certainly higher.
Kyrie was the #2 ranked HS player in the country when he went to Duke.
Garland was the #15 ranked player when he went to Vanderbilt.
Kyrie played 11 games at a so called blueblood school while Garland played 5 at Vandy.

I gotta step back for a little bit. The rational side of me knows we
should trade a prospect like DG for Beal. But I'm so hyped right now
about how good DG might be that I don't want to. Anyway, I'll go
watch some Beal highlights to reset BBall mind.

It's a win-win imo.. Beal is very good. Allstar for years to come. We would probably have to give up #4 Ingram and Kuzma for him tho

I’m trying to talk myself into Garland, but is there any precedent for a PG prospect who averaged more turnovers than assists in their last two years pre-NBA to develop into a starting level PG? Seems more like a 6th man, Lou Williams type scorer.

McCollum averaged more to's than assists his sophomore year .. I guess you could say he's a sg technically..

He won't go top 3. But he will be the 4th pick in the draft!! And it is all good 😊 for the Lakers!!

Giannis was drafted #15. Kobe was drafted #13. Karl Malone was drafted #9.

Alrighty then.

I'd suggest watching Giannis highlights or Kobe highlights prior to their first NBA game....and see if you see skillsets even remotely in the same galaxy as Cam's.

There is not a lot of Giannis highlights or Kobe highlights before their first NBA game. In regards to Giannis, much of what I have seen looks like it was recorded on a beta max recorder, and its not even easy to make him out sometimes.

Are you suggesting you have access to a large portfolio of film on Giannis in Greece and Kobe in 1994 & 1995?

I've seen full games of both of them on Youtube prior to their NBA days.

Kobe's Summer League games are also on youtube (or were).

And... I was at all of Kobe's summer league games and know they were taped. I miss the Long Beach summer league

God that kid was good

He was doing that at 17!!!

Kobe was so smooth. Did he miss a ft? They kept fouling him.

Also did you see Dfish’s dunk at 5:27?!

I understand your concerns about his rank. DG was ranked 17 overall but 2 at his position. However, he was recruited by all the bluebloods and received offers from most. He didn't get an offer from UK because Cal already knew he wasn't coming. If I understand things right, he chose Vandy because he wanted to stay in Nashville.

I like Culver. From CBS Sports:

Quote:
Culver is a terrific all-around player who does a lot of things really well. He can defend at a high level, he can knock down open jumpers, he can handle the ball competently. The concern for Culver is that he's good at a variety of things but perhaps not great at one single thing. But he's just 20-years-old and still maturing physically, and last season he was cast in a role he'll likely never serve again as a No. 1 option. In the right system with the right surroundings, he can be an excellent 3-and-D role player.

It's Garland on the Overtime show.

You get a sense of his personality. Seems like a good kid.
When asked about his favorite team he says Lakers
and this is before he knew we had the pick.

He also goes 22/25 from the NBA 3 pt line.

Favorite team: lakers

Nice

Damn 22/25 his shot was money the whole clip. Okay I'm sold DG is the guy I want the Lakers to draft

Let me get this straight: dude's favorite team is the Lakers, he loves baseball, he loves History, his favorite travel destination is Italy, and he can shoot? We really need to draft this kid!

Im on the DG train as well. We're the Lakers, gotta go for the homerun. Garland has that Curry/Dame scoring guard potential. Perfect compliment to Zo. They're like exact opposite players if you compare their strengths/weaknesses...

Garland can break down defenses, elite shooter who can catch and shoot/PnR, FTs.

His main negatives are a minus defender, undersized, minus rebounder, hasnt shown elite passing... All Zo's strengths.

Sign Kyrie. Have Kyrie and Lonzo as PG/SG. Draft Garland, and have Hart/Garland/Caruso as back up PG/SG. Nice back court for years.

Pretty easy as long as Kyrie comes.

Didn't he measure close to 6'3 in shoes? Or 6'2 in shoes? Undersized to me is Kemba who is probably 6'0 in shoes.

I'm on the Darius Garland train now...just getting worried that he doesn't even make it to #4. He's a Buddy Hield type player at worst.

6’2 in shoes, but some ppl think he’s grown of course. Solid length for size. He’s skinny though, baby face kid bod. Really got game though, would be a great pick. And I agree w you man, we need to keep BI/Zo/4 at all costs , it’s our get out of jail free card for when this FO crashes and burns

We really want a 6'3 shooting guard? We finally got a good defensive core going and now we want to add him? Still think we should just trade the pick...

He's not a shooting guard.

He would be playing point. Dame, CJ are both 6'3.

This is the kid we need on this team. There's a lot of hype growing around him, could he move up to 3rd over RJ?

Yeah I've gone from being skeptical of picking him at the 4
to just hoping he's still there. Not just because of this vid, lol.
But it did kinda of seal the deal. He's the BPA and I like his personality.

And he's one of us!

A Lakers fan!

Just went through a bunch of mock drafts that were updated after the draft combine.

Most I have seen project the Lakers to draft De'Andre Hunter. The rational expressed is he is the player most ready to play this coming season and the Lakers will want to help Lebron right now rather than draft a player who will need a year to two to develop before they can contribute. This assumes Barrett gets drafted by the Knicks.

Hard to argue with that logic.

He seems like a high floor, low ceiling type of player. Is that a good deal at #4?

Yes! I did! I was there! That's me in the black shirt 2 rows up!

Ok, it isn't me, but I was in the 2nd row, because I would get there at 10am and watch every single game. The Lakers games were usually the late night game.

I even saw snoop dogg play. He could ball! So did Terrell Owens and many others.

Great times. I'm Kobe's age, so I had just graduated from HS as well that summer, and I spent every day/all day there (I think it was 6 dollars to get in for someone under 18- which I was).
