Mike, I see you're advocating on trading down our 1st round for 2 2nd rounds because of cap flexibility and not a big difference in terms of players we can get. I understand the logic here.

But, checking the draft board, our best possible trading partners would be Orlando (31 and 46) or Atlanta (35 and 41), as of today. I believe our pick will be in the 20-22 range. Usually, I'd say it's a bad trade, but in this given draft, do you believe it's worthy?

Totally worthy, possibly for both sides.

5th year.

BUt he's showing why I liked him so much prior to the season even starting.

Definitely worth a look. My list hasn't gone that far haha.

There's a lot of mid-late 1st round types that I really don't like, like Hachimura.

I really like Hachimura. Just needs to extend his shot to the 3pt line.

Matisse Thybulle OTOH is a big no for me. Still don't believe in his shooting ability or how much improvement he can make.

Not that high on Brandon Clarke. Not sure how much his skills will translate to the NBA. Seems like a tweener but without the scoring potential like Kuzma.

Hachimura can't defend either. Better than Bol Bol on man, but he can't defend 4s and isn't strong enough for 5s.

Thybulle is trending up. Beginning of season is outlier compared to the rest of his NCAA career. Considering this weak draft, he's a steal in the 2nd.

19% November.

45% December.

Right now, 50% in January.

Clarke, I haven't decided. I know he's a 1st rounder, but I don't think LAL is the right place for what he does best. Clarke is Jordan Bell, not Kuzma type.

I am looking at Hachimura as a SF. Believe he has enough athleticism. On offense he has really good body control which I like. I always believe defense can improve in the NBA dependent on the players effort level.

Clarke I feel is more skilled and coordinated than Bell but does not have the strength, size or explosiveness which serves Bell on the defensive end.

Four years in and Thybulle still has an awkward shot that I question will extend to the NBA 3. I did not see an ability to create for himself and his handles are average.

Hachimura is forced to play 4/5 because even when he makes effort, he gets lost.

Clark, I agree on strength and some size, but not explosiveness.

Thybulle, isn't meant to be a shot creator, so I don't understand how that's an issue. He's just a spot up guy, but the defense is what makes him draftable.

Clarke would be a dream come true for the type of switching defense Luke wants to run. I'd play him at the 5 for short stretches in the playoffs against non-behemoths and I bet they win those minutes.

No, and he hasn't been playing well coming off an injury, but he had a potential breakout game tonight. He's mostly staying on draft boards off of his HS rep so far, but he's 6'9 with length and guard skill. He flashes some pull-up 3pt range.

Wrong draft year, but I feel disgustingly vindicated about Huerter. Weird feeling.

I'm still trying to figure him out. I'm concerned that he's a 3 in a 2's body. Non-elite shooter, weird mechanics stuff with his hands/wrist bend, inconsistent shot form/pocket.

Lacks shake.

But, elite finisher, 7' and in, at the hoop, draws And 1s, good passer, aggressive defender.

Basically he's got the skill set you wish you had out of a 4/5.

The lack of guard skill thing, hurts it, both with the dribble and with the shot.

I said I would have traded Hart + 25 to move up to get him(would have took their high 2nd back, too)
that game was as impressive as Kuz' Boston game last year. amazing stuff for a 6'8 guy

Yup. I'll stand by my Reggie Miller upside play for him. Hopefully games like this really bring the dog out of the kid, because he seems to have competitive fire even with the placid demeanor.

I still think Svi has as much upside. If we were still in full rebuild like Atl, I have full faith that as I would be getting more minutes and time to acclimate. Maybe Iโ€™m wrong, but i just donโ€™t see as much difference as their draft position. I actually think Svi has better shake.

Thoughts on Cam Reddish?

He looked real good today but his overall production this season has seemed underwhelming

His first good game, basically what everyone knew about him incoming for Duke, just Duke doesn't usually play him like that.

Nah man, that's reaching. If Svi makes it as a rotation player in the league, it will be a big hit. And I have hopes that he will. But Huerter is more than a year younger and already looks much better. He has considerably more upside than Svi does. Svi was a strict 2nd round consideration, and not even a super-high 2nd round consideration. We had our eye on him, yes, but not until our last pick. Huerter deserved to be a lottery pick for a reason. Not that I'm always right (far from it!), but I do have receipts...

Huerter--Perhaps the newest LG darling. I've watched the highlight packages, so it's not hard to see why. We need shooting, dude can shoot it, dude is young, and he's not just a one-trick pony. Really like the Klay comparisons (shot form) and Ingles comparisons. Sadly, I no longer see him as being in play for us at #25; I think we would have to move up into the top 20 to get him, and I have him in my top 14 for sure.

^Agreed. Even with Svi's prior PG experience, Huerter is the one that's showing efficiency there already.

It's the passing/playmaking that separates Huerter from Svi, outside of the shooting.

I think Svi has shown good playmaking instincts... it's just Huerter plays 26 minutes a game and Svi plays less than ten.

I'm not saying he'd be better than Huerter... but I don't see how we can make that assessment until he's getting regular minutes.

He's been flashing it even when he had limited PT.

There are just certain angles that Huerter makes that Svi doesn't.
