Also, I'm hearing Lakers will open at home on Oct 17 on ESPN.

Hearing there's a good chance TNT season-opening slate will be #Sixers-#Celtics and #Thunder-#Warriors on Oct. 16

I don't think that TNT will pass on a chance to broadcast lebron's first game as a Laker. I think they somehow will get the Lakers first game.

ESPN is very embedded with Lebron and the Lakers. That’s why they’ll get Lebron’s first game. It’s like the Lakers and Lebron have their very own national broadcasting station.

I wish all Lakers games were on ESPN (cuz I don't have Spectrum cable anymore and I'm on the fence about getting their new a la carte package).

Warriors vs Thunder is a weird choice. Nothing compelling about that.

I've expected for it to be on TNT. And I think the crew will set up shop outside of Staples.

nobody wants to play the Warriors the first game....have to go there and deal with ring ceremony.

Ya, GSW-Thunder doesn't make sense. The Durant-Westbrook thing is done. It should be GS-Hou but maybe they're tired of that? OKC should be our opener.

I want OKC, game 1 at Staples! I want to crush them and show PG what he missed out on!

Then I want game 2, at Clippers, Lonzo revenge game against Beverly.

The NBA probably wants LeBron's first game to be a home game and that's not going to happen with the Warriors playing on opening night, hence the Lakers playing on the second night.

They did last year, but before that it was ESPN two years in a row.

For some reason I always remember the lakers playing against the rockets on opening night. So im expecting that again.

Just off the top of my head:

-The 2007 season where kobe was booed since he demanded a trade that offseason (and nearly hit the shot over battier to win the game)

-2014 season where Julius broke his leg

A couple of things.

The Lakers always open at home, so a GSW/ Lakers matchup probably was never on the table.

I've seen people suggest Celtics and Lakers on Christmas, but unless Boston is coming to LA, I don't see that either.

Luke tapped an opponent's miss into HOU's basket in that 2007 game with his back to the basket, no less. Lakers lost by 2 points. I remember the Houston players laughing their asses off. I just saw yesterday on BSPN-Classic the end of Cavs at Lakers, 2008, and it was another one of those mindnumbing Kobe passes to Luke in the final seconds. Lakers didn't even get a shot off, lost by 3. Why the hell Phil insisted on having Luke out there in those situations was beyond me. Phil was just begging for someone to pass to him so he could sh his pants and throw it back instead of putting the shot up before the buzzer. Same thing happened at MSG in 2005, Kobe spiked ball in anger.

We also played Houston in the opener in 2010 and 2016. Four times since 2007. NBA is imaginative. Played Clipps 3x since 2009. If you're a betting man, bet either of em.

Dynamic duo there. I can't believe Kobe didn't wanna play with those two!

Lakers at Warriors which it will be because of the ring ceremony doesn't really make sense for the NBA if they want LeBron and Lakers first game to be at Staples.

Thunder/Houston vs Warriors it is, we probably get Thunder/Houston/Clippers at home.

IF it's OKC vs GS, then Hou vs LAL makes a lot of sense.

I'd love to see that game be the opener.

I am guessing our schedule may be slightly lighter early in the season than in previous years. The NBA usually stuffs as many high profile games and big matchups that will shape the playoffs later in the season....post football season.

Which is good for a brand new squad, if we start of slowly we'll have an easier schedule to navigate.
