Hopefully a war doesn’t break out here if Kuzma is talked more about than Ingram or vice versa

We seriously need footage from the scrimmages today. Magic sounded really blown away at how competitive it was.

That little dance Magic just did imitating Lance's antics is definitely going to be a gif. Book it.

More on today's scrimmage: It was game point and everyone could read LeBron's body language as he dribbled up the court that he was taking that last shot. Didn't matter. He got Kuz to bite on a fake and he drained a three right in his face. All net.

Rob said that after the scrimmage was over he could hear LeBron and Rondo having such an advanced, basketball conversation that most people literally wouldn't have been able to follow it

This isn't surprising to hear, however. I did some research this offseason to gauge just how high their basketball IQ's are, and this is some of what I found:

LeBron

Rondo

Quote:
After retirement, Scalabrine became an assistant for the Golden State Warriors. When he returned to the TD Garden for a regular-season game, Scalabrine said head coach Mark Jackson shouted out a call, "42 cross," for his team. But the play was a bluff. The Warriors didn't have a "42 cross" in their playbook — and Rondo knew.

Per Scalabrine:

Rondo looked at Mark, and then he looked in the air and said, '42 cross, 42 cross,' and then he looked back at Mark and said, 'You don't have a 42 cross.' I was like, 'How the hell did he just know that?' Somehow, some way, he knew that. And they're not a rival. It wasn't a playoff series. It was an insignificant game during the middle of the week. He was the smartest player I've ever played with and it's not even close.

Butter up the media and make sure they ask only softball questions on Monday.

Haha, I think it's more of a logistical thing. It's gonna be a damn zoo on Monday so it was probably easier to do the front office portion on a different day.

And it was always on Thursday, they just tweeted out the wrong day initially.

Is there any chance Lonzo's unavailability for 5-on-5s is coincidental with the Butler news? Maybe his camp (i.e. Lavar) influenced him to not feel quite 100% when the Butler news came out? Don't remember if the timelines match...

He had surgery well before the butler stuff got serious. It was Luke, not Lonzos camp who announced he wasn’t going to go full 5v5 yet.

Magic was as passionate as I have ever seen him when talking about a Lakers team, it gave me goosebumps.

I don't think that's it. He's 100% cleared by the Lakers' medical staff, he just hasn't played in months so they want to work him up to 5-on-5's.

GT, will you have any kind of access to the Lakers facility during training camp?

I mean, I don't have a key to the gym or anything, but I got approved for my first season credential this year (last year was game-by-game), and I'll be there when the rest of the media is.
