just a note for anyone that did not watch the Alabama/Mississippi State game and have heard the media bragging about Alabama shutting out another ranked team.....fwiw, it was only a shutout because of a horrific phantom call on Mississippi State for a block in the back on a TD. Replay clearly showed the Mississippi State player did not even make contact with the Alabama player.

refs missed another big call early in the game when replay showed that the Alabama RB clearly fumbled before his knee touched down, and Mississippi State immediately recovered the ball. They did not even review upstairs like almost all fumble/not fumbles are reviewed. Alabama went on to score a TD on that drive.

add a TD to MSU, and take one away from 'Bama, and you have a much less impressive 17-7 victory....and that is not even considering the emotional toll and momentum that could have changed by the correct calls....or the fact that the fumble recovery would have gave Mississippi State the ball almost in the red zone early in the game. |

How MSU was ranked with 3 losses is a head scratcher. 3 of their 6 wins we're against very weak competition. |

weird to not have any major upsets on a November Saturday....Oklahoma escaped a shootout, and Arkansas made it interesting against LSU....but mostly everything else was a yawn |

Wimbush played how I expected had good moments... bad moments too.
However still know that Book is the better QB.
Glad they ran the ball more.
Also it obvious that FSU couldn't handle the cold at all.
Much better game to watch than the Purdue/Minn one... |

USC, which led 14-0 at halftime, is down 15-14 at home to Cal with 6:30 left. They've beaten Cal 14 times in a row.
I should add that in the 3rd quarter facing a 4th and 2 from around their own 45, Helton left the offense out there seemingly to go for it, called a timeout before the play clock hit 0, and then punted LOL. He punted after a timeout. You know, instead of simply taking the 5-yard penalty. Helton thinks the 5 yards is more important than the timeout in the second half.
They also just took a timeout following an incomplete pass on 1st and 10 late in the 4th. And went three-and-out on that series. I wonder if Helton even survives this game if they lose, before UCLA week. |

Pretty simple, USC loses to UCLA next week and Clay Helton is fired.....they would be 5-6 going into the game against Notre Dame and they aren't beating that team with the year they are having. Even if they went 6-6 I think his job is probably on the line. |

I think it's at least possible that he could win out and still not survive the offseason. I just don't know if USC alumni are going to be OK with a 5-loss season in the utterly weak Pac-12, even breaking in a new QB. And it's remarkably likely that the best they do is 6-6 in the regular season, as Notre Dame will be a big favorite, even in LA.
There was this narrative that Tee Martin calling plays was hurting the team, but, #1, doesn't that fall on the head coach to do a better job of overseeing that, if you're supposed to be an offensive guy, and #2, since he's taken over those responsbilities, it hasn't worked, either. (They scored 14 points last night and zero after halftime.) And beyond that, Helton's team is undisciplined (120th out of 129 FBS teams in penalty yards per game), and that personal foul penalty late in the game when USC had gotten a huge 3rd down stop was critical. Also last night, they completely wasted two timeouts in the second half, and that quite literally meant that the game was over with 2 minutes left. If they had those timeouts, Cal would've had to make another first down to salt the game away. |

Petrino out. Some friends of mine are Louisville alums. It’s been a tough couple years for them, in both major sports. |

it is an absolute joke to see where this football program and basketball program were a few years ago. The football team was won the Big12 and ACC expansion list as #1....and the ACC moved first, and the Basketball program was a Final 4 threat almost every year. I will say it....maybe they should not have moved so quickly on Pitino. There is really no more evidence against Pitino that there is against Bill Self who is still coaching the #1 team in the country. |

uh oh...after 22 straight wins....it's happening.
Cincinnati (#19 AP) @ UCF (#11 AP) in O-Town on ABC Primetime!
This game is actually really big because if UCF loses....and the spread will not be large, UCF will likely be knocked out of the AAC Championship game and ineligible for the New Years bowl that goes to the highest ranked Group of 6 Champion. |

I did not see it, but I have seen it before. Team puts in an offensive package that includes a player that normally plays defense....then when they run it on game day, for whatever reason the offensive player with the same number ends up on the field at the same time. |
Almost got a Trojan player ejected, the defensive #8 got a personal foul while earlier the offensive #8 had gotten one. The ref announced the ejection but then reversed it. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Pitino had a lot of stuff on his resume. Remember that they had to forfeit the last national championship because of the prostitution scandal. |

Rice opens at +44 against LSU. Hah! Even I don't think we'll beat them that badly. We're playing in their stadium, after all. They have at least a couple players who could cut it in Conference USA.
Wait, that is what the + means, isn't it? |

oh yeah, I did see that. I was actually watching as I fell asleep, and had not watched earlier, so I was unsure what the announcers were talking about....it was the play where the #8 DB was talking to someone on the sideline. |

Here's a scouting report from a Baton Rouge newspaper. You can smell the fear.
Quote: | ON THE OWLS OFFENSE
Mike Bloomgren, who is in his first season as head coach after five years as Stanford's offensive coordinator, has used four quarterbacks this season — with Stankavage having the most success. Rice, however, ranks 123rd of 129 FBS teams in scoring (19.0) and 121st (324.5).
ON THE OWLS DEFENSE
Rice isn't much better on this side of the ball, either. The Owls rank 117th in scoring defense (37.5) and 101st in total defense (441.6). The Owls have given up 40 points or more in six games. |

We need to have West Virginia vs. UCF in a bowl game, so you can get really confused. |

Week 12 CFP Rankings
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Notre Dame
4. Michigan
5. Georgia
6. Oklahoma
7. LSU
8. Washington State
9. West Virginia
10. Ohio State
LINK
Top 10 remained the same....because you know, a 2 loss LSU team beating a 2-8 Arkansas team by a touchdown is clearly as impressive as a 1 loss Washington State beating a 5-4 Colorado team in Boulder by 24 points, and a 1 loss WVU team beating a 4-5 TCU by 37 points.
UCF climbed a spot to #11, Penn State climbed 6 spots to #14, Texas jumped 4 spots to #15 and Iowa State climbed 6 spots to #16. #23-#25 was given to Group of 6 Teams Utah State, Cincinnati, and Boise State. |
