Thanks Emplay.
Do you know, if the opprtunity comes, what the FO is willing to give for AD?
I personally feel 2 out of BI, Ball or Kuz is okay, but not all three. Including Hart is fine too. |

Quote: | The 25-year-old forward already qualifies for a supermax by virtue of his back-to-back All-NBA honors. Staying with the Pelicans on such a deal could mean an extra $34.2 million for Davis on a five-year, $239.5 million contract. If he's traded to another franchise and re-signs with them as a free agent in 2020, the most he could earn is a projected $205.3 million.
If Davis left New Orleans as a free agent, the most he could receive is a four-year, $152.2 million deal. |
That's a lot of $ to leave on the table... _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

If he leaves $$$ on the table, a ring would make it worthwhile and he would make $$$$ as a Champion - maybe even a role in Space Jam 3! |

Yes, thanks for a great article: it spells everything out very clearly and has all of the information anyone would need to figure the situation out. |

Same reasons why star players who want out get traded.
That of course requires AD to express a demand to be traded, which he has not. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

any star that comes here long term would make more than $50 mill in endorsements. these salary things are always spoken of in misleading terms IMO. who cares about the length and total? gimme the annual. 50mil a year vs 40mil a year is not necessarily leaving all this money on the table. the player will get another contract after this one, so maybe that one is 30mill a year, or 60mill a year, etc. so whatever is being left on the table will be made up as soon as the new contract is signed.
AD is going to be a max player most of his career. He will get the going rate, give or take every single year. He gives up a little to come to LA, he will make up a bunch with endorsements, if not more. He's essentially going to make $100 million every couple years, plus/minus whatever. |

Minus a lot, Kobe only made $25 mil in endorsements in a year, while Davis made $15 mil in NO. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

money has changed a lot. people complained about kobe making 30mil a year, and now everyone is making 40-50mil a year. all these contracts have ballooned the past 5 years. AD would make WAY more in LA, just like Lebron is going to make WAAAAY more in LA. THat's the whole reason why he's here anyway, it's not about winning rings anymore.
edit, also almost forgot. i'm addressing the leaving it on the table bit. WHich is over multiple years. so even if ad makes 15mil a year, over 5 years that is $75 mill. So there you go. |

I would rather see the Lakers go for Kawhi because they would not have to give up anything to get him.
While I would really love to see AD come to the Lakers, we would have to give up a lot to get him, which would gut our team. After all that we have gone through, it sure would be nice if we could find a way to win with BI, Lonzo and Kuz at the very least.
I have mixed feelings about needing to trade too many of our young guys for him.
On the other hand, if there was a way for us to have Lebron, AD and Kawhi, well, that would be pretty amazing. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |

Might as well give up some of the young talent now. Lakers won't be able to pay LeBron, Ball, Kuzma, Ingram, and next year's FA all max salaries. Hart will get paid a decent amount too. |

How about this line-up for 2019/20, assuming they trade Kuz, Wagner, Svi and a 1st round pick:
PG: Ball
SG: Hart
SG: Ingram
SF: LeBron
C: Davis
That would at least scare the Warriors.. _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

I'm guessing that the Lakers will try to sign Kawhi in 2019 and then eventually pull a S&T for Ingram (plus Kuz and pieces) for AD. Lineup would be
Ball
Hart
Kawhi
LeBron
Davis |

NO is looking pretty good. Gifting them Randle might have just tipped the scale for AD staying. |

Nah, If Randle plays that well for the whole season hes gonna leave to get that bigger contract elsewhere. I don't think NOLA can offer much since they don't have his bird rights and they are trying to retain Mirotic |
