Everyone knows Stephen A is just looking for gossip so no one is going to tell him anything. Why would they? What we have is a guy who is on TV and radio several hours a day, discussing the same topics day after day. Ovet time, he has plenty of comments on both sides of the fence so no matter what the outcome is, at least one of his predictions will be true.
That type of spitballing is not informative. Kevin Durant clearly said the guy was full of it and doesn't talk to anyone in his circle. After being proven wrong, Smith backtracked and said his source was right at the time and Durant just changed his mind. It is pure junk reporting. |

Kevin Durant is far from a factual stand up cat. That's proven... The dude doesn't even believe in himself or the decisions he makes. If he did, then he wouldn't be arguing with little kids on Twitter.
Stephen A has gone on the record more times than I can count saying that he will never reveal a source. He's so close to the edge on some of his claims that if they were untrue, he'd be blackballed. The reason why Durant and LeBron got mad is because (1) Stephen A is brutally honest and (2) Durant and LeBron have leaks in their circles. Maybe not the inner circles, but definitely the outer circle.
Stephen A is a major part of sports popular culture. For the last 20 years he's been the mouthpiece of HOF players/agents/front offices both in the NBA and NFL. The dude has had multiple shows both on radio and television. When story needs to be broken, it's Stephen A at 3:00 AM breaking it down halfway in his sleep lying in bed in a hotel room.
The delivery may not be for everyone because it's confrontational and some people are afraid of that. But Stephen A is 1000% legitimate and anyone who has a problem with it wouldn't last five minutes in a barbershop argument. Stephen A's unspoken job is to bring the unfiltered barbershop perspective.
On top of this; Stephen A has served as a mentor/resource for minority journalists. To call him an idiot or whatever else is simply blasphemous.

Not sure if this has been previously stated but my issue with Stephen A is how he handled this situation. He should have privately contacted the Lakers organization and discussed this issue instead of spewing off on his radio show.
We all can speculate on his motive of essentially calling out Rondo but not knowing the true facts and just Assuming the intent of Rondo's statements clearly shows poor judgement on his part. |
